yep, they can refuse healthcare due to their own, outdated, religion-tainted, non-scientific bigotries
The legislation includes clarification stating healthcare providers cannot turn anyone away based on their “race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.”

Notice what’s missing from that list?

Yes, there’s nothing about sexual orientation or gender identity. Democratic lawmakers pushed for amendments to include LGBTQ+ protections but they were all rejected in the Republican-majority House and Senate.
“A nurse could refuse to provide a doctor’s prescription for fertility drugs to a single woman or someone who identifies as a lesbian,” she said. “Nursing homes could refuse to provide elderly, transgender residents for their ongoing hormone treatment.”

This is so disgusting and petty. Right wing conservatives frustrated that they just can't lynch undesirables anymore or yell slurs at them in the street are now trying their best to humiliate and harass them through law at every turn. I can't imagine being that small minded and petty.

200+ year old constitutional norms could collapse and the Americanists Yahoos would still think that it’s an opportunity for scoring partizan points.

Time for the Federal Govt to step in and sue the State for violations of Constitutional Rights.

We don't really want the Fed to step in there. Not now. That would ripen up the Big Bad Fed messin' with us batch just in time for '24.

We want the people of Florida to file these cases in state courts and get Ronny's hate dealt with by his own people.

Either the Federal Govt stands for something...or it doesn't. Doing the right thing should not be a political decision. Do members of the LGBT socieyy have equal rights guaranteed under the Constitution or not? You are saying no. The Federal Govt should stay out of it.

To be clear, the law does not allow medical providers and payers to refuse service to LGBT people. It allows them to “opt out of participation in or payment for certain health care services on the basis of conscience-based objections”, and they have to provide advance notice before scheduling appointments.

It means medical professionals can opt out of providing procedures they find morally objectionable like abortions or sex change operations, and prescriptions for things like puberty blockers or morning after pills. It does not mean they can discriminate who they deny services to. For example, a surgeon who specializes in knee surgery cannot deny a knee repair to a patient just because the patient happens to be gay or lesbian.

That's the exact same thing. One is just adding a rationalization for why they are refusing service. Both are refusing service.

Nope. Not the same thing. The law pertains to certain services. That is not the same thing as opting out of serving people based on sexual orientation.

A doctor can opt out of providing an abortion to a straight women, but an optometrist cannot refuse eye care to a LGBT person. Cardiologists cannot refuse service to patients with heart conditions. Dermatologists cannot refuse skin care treatment to LGBT people.

Lol...yes, I get that you are ok with people discriminating against others.

Either you provide a service or you refuse to provide it. Excusing it because of your God doesn't change that.

They did it in the 60s...except then they put signs up...."no coloreds"

If you can't provide all the services of your job, then find a new job.

Providers and payers in FL can opt out of providing certain services. Gays and lesbians can get all the hip replacements and statin prescriptions they want. They can also whine all they want about Florida’s law. Sex change operations are not a constitutional right.

If you pay for a sex change operation, then you should be able to get one from your provider.

If you're in a field that provides them, then you should be required to do your job.

That’s your opinion and that’s fine. I’m simply pointing out the FL law doesn’t give permission to deny medical treatment to LGBT people as the OP implies. It only provides opt out protections for certain services, regardless of the patient’s sexual orientation. I linked the text of the bill to provide that clarification.

It makes LGBTQ patients to have limited access to the care they need.

Opposed. Forcing someone to do something they'd rather not never goes well. Dentists are doctors but you can't force one to do something not related to the mouth.

That's not what I said.

If your field includes a sex change, then you should do sex changes. If you object to sex changes, then don't choose the field that does them.

I certainly don't expect dentists to perform heart surgery.

I would want to know whether my doctor was impartial. If you can't trust them to do their job...why would you want to put your life in their hands?

I have no problem with a doctor not wanting to work with a certain group. I just want to know that. Let Republican doctors treat Republicans. Let Democrat doctors treat Democrats. Have a sign out front how they vote...it tells you everything about what kind of care you will get. Isn't it my right to make an informed decision? This is the World we live in. Embrace it.

How far do you take this form of bigotry? Is it ok for doctors to refuse to treat patients with sickle cell anemia because they're a "certain group"?

Basically, all you've done is exchange the word "blacks" with the words "certain groups" and suddenly racism and bigotry are ok with you. Especially when you can inject personal beliefs into the mix about how "unclean" those "others" are.

As far as you and your kind want to take it. Can't have it both ways Mr Lawyer. Which side is it? As for me...I want to know the political views of my medical doctor. Not a fan of Ivermectin lol

Actually, I can.

As a lawyer I get to argue passionately about all kinds of things I'd never personally engage in. So I could in fact defend free speech while thinking that the words spoken are revolting.

Both ways for the win!

So the question remains, how far does your bigotry extend even as you point the finger of social divisiveness at everyone else? Personally I think you're fine with going all BB and calling everyone you don't like a nigger but you're too cowardly to do it so you couch the intent behind new phrases and words which mean the same thing.

As far as you and your kind want to take it. For a "lawyer" you sure do have problems reading.
