Dear gawd, if that sound that came through my speakers when the page loaded is indicative of all this band's work ... and 'Celtic rock' in general ... I think I'll go over to 3113's "The Screaming of... WTF?" thread and listen there. At least there's a bit of mystery involved.

I know I've heard of them, and I may have seen them but can't recall for sure. There used to be an Irish pub here in town that had live bands on Fridays and/or Saturdays, but they cut it back to kareoke several years ago and I'm not sure what they do (if anything) these days.

Well.... I used to write stories here a lot... but for the last few years I have been merely lurking.... and never on the boards... but I do check AH almost everyday mostly to check up my old friend Sweetsubsarahh who I must credit for my user name (on a post from yesterday).... She encouraged me to post.. but I resisted...
And then like a message from God... Flogging Fucking Molly!!! Despite being an old fart, I love them... I was turned on to them by my daughter and her husband who took us to see them at a club venue (definately not an Irish pub) in Norfolk.....(don't remember the name but across from the fancy mall downtown..) Perhaps you saw the name on the marquee...
They were great... It was also my very first exposure to a mosh pit (I admitted to being an old fart) Which was interesting as I watched my son-in-law (gaurding the women folk at the edge of the pit) put a guy flat down and then helped him up with mutual smiles. Having learned the rules.... never mind... the band was Great! (Am I the only to notice the lead singer looks just like Adam on Discovery Mythbusters?)
I even exposed them to my close Irish friend (I live and work far outside the US) who knows the Pogues very well (we exchanged mp3's...)

Sigh.... 62 and another cherry lost.... My this is my first post...

That's what I've always loved about the Pogues - their ability to sing a line like "whack-fol-de-do-dol-de-diddly-idle-ay" and make it sound like "what the fuck are you lookin' at?"

most things we say can be translateed as "do ya fancy a rumble ya feckin bastard?" depending on intonation and body language.

but yea, it was the greatest show.

Celtic punk is pretty good, though I tend to prefer slightly more traditional Celtic music myself. If you like Flogging Molly and Dropkick, you might care for Slainthe Mhath, although I think they're a bit more rock than puck.

And you can't forget Blaggards, even though they're not known all that well. Both them and Dropkick have Myspace pages - I've had their songs as my 'theme song' on my myspace page off and on for a while now.
