Jenny, we haven’t met but I just woke up alone in me and my wife’s summer house. Down here to do some housework before my daughter comes home from college to spend her summer out here. I grabbed my phone around 6am (20 min ago) and saw your post. It’s so calm and quiet as it’s just me and the beautiful sounds of the morning birds.

I should preface this by saying I don’t often read stories on Lit but for some reason I was compelled to read yours today. Maybe it was because it’s your first, maybe because it just happened, but I imagine it was mostly because it’s real.

I used to live in New York City for over 10 years, so the imagery and your fantastic writing made it all very palpable.

Anyway I loved the story from
start to finish, the relationship dynamics between you, your husband, and Anna unfolded with a range of emotions, mostly pure happiness for you. Honestly, I also felt some envy for the relationship you have with your husband, especially when it came to the sexual aspects. If I can say this respectfully, it also left me with a strong sense of arousal. It’s not just the usual “morning wood.” There was something different because of your story.

One of the things I enjoy most about being at this house is the outdoor shower. I was already looking forward to taking the first outdoor shower of the season when I got here last night.

I tried to take one last night, but I had forgotten to turn the boiler heat up enough to get truly hot water when it was 48°F. I ended up taking a quick shower and then turned up the heat so that this morning, first thing, I could take a nice long, hot, undisturbed shower.

I’ve recently caught the exhibitionist bug, and I love the idea of being outside naked. Not in some creepy, pervy way, but in a natural way, when the situation and the environment feel right, which they do this morning.

Thanks for the fun way to wake up today. I’m looking forward to a long, hot shower and maybe finding my own morning "flow" state.

And congrats on your first story which is fantastic! I’m sure there will be many more to follow and if I’m a focus group of one, there will be hundreds more like me who will appreciate and enjoy your tremendous ability to tell a story and paint an emotional and provocative path!
