Howdy all,

I'm not much of a writer, but I have dabbled here and there, and currently have two stories going on (one in the works, one in limbo). I need help with the former. Its half done, but I wanna know what ohter's thoughts are before continuing. Nothing much happens in the part I have done, but it established the drive (so far as I'm concerned), so really the rest the reader could fill out for themselves. (I intend to provide an ending though).

If you're the picky type like me, know that it really doesn't have a category, but could qualify as a goth/bondage/fetish/non-consentual read (but it really isn't... honest! I think it'll be a simple sweet love story... ).

If anyone's up for a little proofing, I'd appreciate it. You can e-mail me (flawed_ethics@yahoo.com) for a copy, since it isn't ready for posting. As a .txt file, its 15K.

p.s. Sorry if this thread looks funny. First time playing with the smiles.

I would say, just write both stories to some kind of logical finish, then let them sit for somewhere between an hour and a year, then go back over each one and rewrite it.

I find the hardest thing about rewriting is deleting all those precious words that I took so much time and mental energy to put into the story. But a lot of them always have to get tossed. Then after deleting and beginning to rewrite, I usually find a new story under the old one and rewrite that one, often with a newly discovered story logic and ending.

It also helps to write from a standpoint of familiarity with the material. If you live in the Florida keys and have never felt the bitter cold of a blinding blizzard, you might not be able to communicate it well. But if you have picked a fresh coconut, drilled a hole, and drank the juice, you could tell volumes about that from experience. Same with sexual experience, of course. You don't have to write a "true story," but might help to have a variety of experience, maybe only vicariously as from watching porn videos, but even better to have really experienced it.

On asking for help: beware. If you ask someone else to help, you get his or her story, not your own. Then you could end up resenting yourself for it. Write your own. Then you'll know it's your own.

You could look at other posted stories to see how their writers solved the minor technicalities of writing and how those things seem to work to make the story flow.

You could look at my most recent story, "Interracial Anilingus, Ch 2" just to see how to do things. It's at:

I'm hardly an expert, but the story seems readable. Nudemodel

Thanks for the information - I appreciate it.

I've already visited the newer story several times after letting it sit a day or two and made some little, personally noteworthy changes. Nothing big, but it makes the story flow better.

The problem with the bigger story is that the sex scenes come off as repetitious. It needs more variation. Your point about familiarity is well taken though - perhaps I need to participate in some experimentation of my own... :D

When it comes to the voulnteer editors, not only is it to point out any gaps I may have missed, but also to get an opinion. Based on how articulated it is, I'll work in their suggestions as the situation fits.

At worst, its back to the drawing board! Thanks again!
