Well i'm hoping i'm posting this in the right place. Well my question for the experienced masses of literotica is this what is a good starting place for a guy looking to purchase his first anal plug?

If going to flame me please just move on. Thanks all for looking and looking forward to hopefully some good answers.

Thanks,

It kind of depends on how much of a stretch you're comfortable with. If you're new to this kind of thing then you may want to start small. Most sites that sell sex toys will sell a set of plugs in graduated sizes starting from about the size of your finger, up to 1.75 inches in diameter or larger. These sets usually come with three plugs.

Once you're comfortable with it, I would highly recommend purchasing a quality borosilicate glass (pyrex) plug. They run anywhere from $20.00 to $50.00 or more depending on how much you feel like spending. I find glass to be infinately more comfortable than any of the plastics or rubbers. It's also easy to clean, completely inert, and tolerates any kind of lubrication that you want to use.

My first toy other than a finger was a prostate stimulator. This was a gateway for the pleasures to cum. I forget the name but it was cheap and a hard plastic <$15

Cant say enough about pyrex and Stainless plugs!

It's not exactly a plug right off the bat, but have you looked at the "Aneros Progasm" prostate massagers? They come in three different sizes/shapes as well (the differences are more subtle), and they are good for solo use because there's a handle that will prevent either slipping in too far, and they don't tend to slip out. They are a great way to acclimate oneself to anal play in general and designed for males.

As for plugs themselves...yes, what the others said, you'll want to start small and work up. Between glass and something that actually gives...I guess that's personal. I need something to give to be comfortable and have never liked glass, but it's easily just personal preference. Maybe even differences in anatomy...I've known men to say they need something really firm on the prostate to get it feeling awesome.
