So i wrote a story and i had three friends read it, one who is married with bebbies but has always been kinky, another who is single with a panty fetish and another who is single with a few fetishes.

The married one like it but didn't seem overly excited, the one with the panty fetish really loved most of it but think might have skimmed over some parts and the one with more fetishes i think was bored by the erotic parts.

Basically boy number three thinks that if a story isn't mostly kinky that no one wants to read it, his opinion is people only want to read about things they can't do or get in every day life. I thought fair assumption but a lot of men are with women who don't talk about sex or who don't masterbate so i think they would like my story.

But.. it's been up for a while now and i've only one comment, i said i wasn't going to advertise it and just see how it goes but now i'm thinking maybe it's shite?

Lack of comments may have more to do with the catefory its posted in. Some categoties are read more than others.

That would kind of mean that the story is something no one wants to read though because it was in the right category and if no on reads that category?

First off, what category is it in? OnlyByMoonlight is correct in saying certain categories get less people commenting, for various reasons.

Second, being relatively new to the site, perhaps people haven't had the chance to get to know your work. Do you have only the one story up?

A good way to get more "exposure" (for lack of a better word) would be to enter one of the special contests.

The Valentine's Day contest is going on right now. (Link for rules to the contest here) You may not get high scores, but it's a really good way to gain more readers. It's also a good way to pick up trolls and those who love voting low on contest entries. Don't be discouraged if you do enter a contest and have that happen. Just keep moving on.

The Literotica readers can be fickle. One time they may absolutely love a story of yours and the next they may hate it, and it could be a similar story.

Another good way to gain more exposure to your work is to post a link to your stories in your sig line on the forums. To do that, click UserCP at the top of the page, then click Edit signature. Just copy and paste the link to your story page there.

Welcome to Lit and the AH.

Thanks for that , all good points
I was around a while ago for a couple of years but changed names however it is my first story yes. Its in toys and masterbation which i myself have never loved as a category but that's just where it fell

you could link the story in your signature line.

also, a point about getting friends to read stuff is that if you show it to three, you'll get three diferent opinions, if you show it to ten, you might get ten differing views. what i'm trying to get across is you could end up chasing your tail trying to chase your tale.

trying to 'fix' the piece for one friend's taste, only to find you're doing it again for the next ... ad nauseum.

:)

A troll is God's way of reminding you to keep your burger flipper job.

that's a sweeping generalisation, as well as offensive. esp. to a relative newcomer.

besides, the troll is probably flipping the burgers ... and spitting in your food. ;)

i haven't got a troll yet just you knob jockey
and if you hate all of lits writing so much why the fuck do you hang around so much? Maybe you should go get a job flipping burgers to keep you entertained.

Your best course of action with JBJ is to ignore him. Either by not replying to him at all or putting him on your ignore list. Either way, even a slight response just gives him fuel for his fire. He likes to cause trouble. He's a shit stirrer. He lives to be abrasive and hateful. I haven't responded to him in months now and he leaves me alone, although I imagine he'll make an attempt to bait me after this post.

Actually, no. I remember seeing this made for TV movie awhile back (I think late 80s or early 90s) with Timothy Hutton where he lived in the present and he inherited an old house with an old roll-top desk and he found a letter there. He read the letter and replied to it, then when he went back to the desk again the next day, he'd found someone had replied to him.

Turned out he was the reincarnated version of the husband of the woman who wrote the letter. Or something along those lines. It's been awhile since I've seen the movie and I can't remember all the details. Anyway, I just switched the roles is all.

Hope you like the story, it's one of my favorites. Although I do tend to cringe when I read my older work, due to errors and the quality of writing, but then again, don't we all? ;)
