Hi there,

My latest submission (http://www.literotica.com/s/a-favour-for-a-friend-1) seems to have gone down well. It's my first time in the First Time category, and I'm not actually sure of the genre's audience's expectations, and likes/hates.

A couple of comments have suggested follow-up chapters. I think I can produce them; my question is whether to. Do continuations of First Time stories tend to work? I assume I'd have to put them in a different category (as, evidently, it'd no longer be a first time story), but does this tend to lose me the readers who wanted the next episode in the first place?

As ever, of course, I'd love feedback on the tone, pace, content and realism, quite aside from whether I write what happens next.

Thanks, all!

Chris

The real question is do you want there to be more chapters? If you feel you have more to tell then by all means do it.

If you're going by audience response only then the story won't come out as well.

One thing you'll learn is they always want more. I don't care how definitive your ending is they will want more.

I did a 51 chapter series. I still get "Can you keep going, can you tell us what was next?"

You be the judge of if there should be more.

As to my opinion in general? The purpose of a first time story is the first time. So for me once that ice is broken that is the draw of the category and I wouldn't find follow up- chapters to really fit the category. Unless you want to category jump for #2

I agree with LC. If you have a long story leading up to the first time, and maybe dealing with some consequences, you could have more. But if this is more drawn out, it should probably be in Romance (or whatever), or you'll have to put other chapters in other categories.

But don't write more if you don't have more story to tell.

Thanks, both, for your comments and advice; and to anyone else who's read, voted, or left feedback.

First and foremost, I write for myself -- which is one reason I know I'm unlikely to submit to some categories. As such, this story has more chapters, as it were, and ones which I would probably explore at some point. I'm aware, though, that the categories here often have common motifs, or elements that are expected (beyond, here, the obvious need for some sort of 'first'), and I'm curious how a continuation would be received. But, as I say, I'd only write it how and when I wanted: it's more a matter of how I publish it.

I've found writing this one an interesting experience, in all. After writing it, I actually didn't submit it for publishing for some time, unlike my previous work, which went up as soon as I'd finished them. In some ways, it's a more personal story than the others, and I don't know what part that's played in how I've written it. What I've found interesting is that it's got more views, more votes, and more comments --what I don't know is whether that's more to do with what I've produced, or more to do with the audience browsing this category.

Either way, as I enjoyed writing it, I suspect there's more in me in this vein. I think it'll have to be to a second category, though; hopefully anyone interested in following the tale will find it there.

Thanks again,

Chris
