I've probably tried 8 or 10 different dildos and vibes over the years.

For dildos, I've found that my sweet spot is one that's 1.5 inches in diameter. It's big enough that it takes some time to work in, but there's almost no pain and it stretches me enough to feel absolutely amazing. I've taken some bigger ones, but I didn't enjoy them as much.
