First time bondage

My wife and I have been married for almost 16 years now.
She has always hinted around about wanting to be tied up.
My last trip to the adult store, I bought a kit that has velcro straps to tie people up with, and I am going to surprise her with it one night after we go out.
It also has a blindfold.

My question is: When I have her tied up on the bed, I am wondering if I should put on some earphones with music for her to listen to?
I was thinking that I might not want her hearing me move around the room.
I think it might lend some excitement if she doesn't know where I am, or what I may be getting ready to do to her if I get up from the bed for a minute.
Should I do earphones, or just play some music?

This, like just about everything else, is really personal preference. For me, headphones could be okay, but I'd prefer to have my partner talking to me through the experience, saying things that turn me on and increase the tension/anticipation.

As an alternative to moving around the room, either blindfold and tie her down, then get everything set up in one area within easy reach, or do it before blindfolding her and leading her into the room. Having everything on hand from the start is a very good idea for activities like this, IMO.

If your wife loves porn sounds, go for that, otherwise you could choose music that fits the mood you want to create, or use the silence to your advantage. I can envision myself laughing my head off when I think of someone starting a porn soundtrack in the background, but I suppose some might like it.

Do not leave your wife unattended while she's bound, and be sure to agree on a safeword ahead of time in case either one of you feels uncomfortable with what's going on and wants/needs it to stop (at least for the other to check in). These are general safety things, but very important when it comes to this kind of play.

Erika has given good advice. I also don't think sounds from porn would work for me, but it is about personal taste....for me I just find them very fake. Be careful with both the blindfold and using a way to block out sounds within the room as they can both be unexpected triggers for some people sending them in panic attacks or making for an unpleasant experience. This can be especially true if you use both together and have not done this before as it may be too much at once in the beginning. Some people never reach a point where they feel comfortable with it. Definately do not leave the room while she is bound, and also make sure she knows how she can get out of her bonds if the unexpected happens and she needs to free herself in an emergency. Be attentive to any signs of distress, or her need for reassurance from you. Have fun.

I have not experienced ear plugs. But I do know that actually hearing makes me wonder what's going on, what's going to happen, especially with noises that can be two or more things.
A blind-fold can be a good idea especially if you're a bit unsure of what to do. She won't see this unsureness in you. If you are very self-confident in such a situation, seeing this can be a turn-on as well.

i've had ear plugs used on me. They worked wonders. It drove me crazy to not know what was going on (in a good way). It also heightened my other sense, touch, since i couldn't see, hear, or move. i agree here completely. this was Master and i's 'oath' was that we would start out small, although that didn't quite happen LOL....but i must say the very first time He took me, i wasn't ready for it, and i did get scared and not in such a good way.
