Ummm I believe that Monday has indeed always gotten the short end of the stick, but I do not see how it can beat out the start of the weekend. Enlighten me please!

Most people who have the weekend off are glad to see Friday, but in my case my work week right now is Thursday-Monday. So my "weekend" is Tuesday and Wednesday.
