Hi! Unsure which is the right forum for my questions, so please let me know if I’m wrong.

I have finished my first erotica! At 21,595 words, it’s a bit of an indulgence with everything I’ve ever wanted to read in a story. The theme is fantasy non-con that I have named ‘Devil's Blight.’ The main character first takes advantage of others, and then is taken advantage of himself (which I know may not appeal to people looking specifically for one or the other, but I don’t care.) There’s also a significant amount of world building and magic however I decided to put this in the Non-con category, since every sex scene is non-consensual.

I have a few questions, as this is my first story:

I have written a short story description for each section (see below). The descriptions are vague, and they don’t describe the specific sexual content. Instead, I figured I could use the tags… would this be okay? I don’t want anyone to have unpleasant surprises (although this is going into the non-con section, NOT fantasy)

Part 1: A foreign world believes he is the devil. He’s about to prove them right.

Part 1 tags: Fantasy, magic, spanking, voyeur, students, virgin

Part 2: A devil takes what he deserves.

Part 2 tags: Fantasy, anal, golden shower, mind control, magic, spanking, blowjob

Part 3: What is he willing to do to learn the truth?

Part 3 tags: Fantasy, bisexual, gay, drugs, magic, anal, teacher, student

  • I had a look around on the writer’s resources for a non-con guide, but couldn’t find one. I want to be sure that my non-con scenes are acceptable. All characters are at least 24, and they all orgasm from the non-con sex. However, they never verbalise consent at any point.
  • I’m bisexual, so when I wrote the story, I made the character bisexual too. However, the queer scene is the only sex scene in the final part, meaning that people who might not be into gay male sex (probably most people on this site) won’t want to read it. Its not like I can tag the earlier parts as being bisexual to give people a heads up, as no queer sex happens. Is it worth it to re-write this scene so that its consistently hetero? Could I release them both as options for people to choose from, or is that just not done?
  • Finally, with regards to submitting the stories in parts: Is it better to release them slowly, one at a time, after each story is accepted? Or better to submit all at once, knowing that one of the parts could be held back for review and risk the stories being released out of order? And how do I make sure they’re all grouped together? I couldn’t find any information about that.
Thank you for any help! I know that’s quite a few questions.

Hi and good luck with your first story!

First of all, 20k words is not too long to publish as a standalone, so you don't need to publish in parts if you don't specifically want to. Series typically get a declining number of views with each consecutive chapter, but on the other hand, the score will go up, because only those who enjoyed the story will stick with it. Then again, if you do post them as chapters, it is better to post the entire series in the same category than jump between categories, because it's likely the readers won't follow you (ie. if your first two are in non-con, the ones following that category won't find chapter 3 in gay male, no matter how much they liked chapter 1 and 2). And if it was me, I would post them, say, a week apart, to get fresh readers for each your chapters. If you publish them at the same day, you will only get your time in the spotlight (read: new lists) one time. There's been a lot of discussion about "standalone versus series" over the forum so you can search for more knowledge on the topic. There's also a good how-to on choosing a category: Love Your Readers: Categories

I have no real insight in non-con, but my understanding is that the victim needs to get some satisfaction from it at least eventually. Verbalized consent is not required.

Gay content is controversial, as you say. The consensus among readers seems to be that all women are bisexual, but in men it's icky
I don't think you should cater to imagined readership and alter your story. Then again, if you want to write two endings and publish both, you can do that. You can do pretty much what you want. Stick to your artistic vision.

To get stories to appear a series, you need to name them similarly, for example
My Story Title Ch 01
My Story Title Ch 02
My Story Title Ch 03
and the site will group them together. You can also use names like "My Story Title: Beginning", and then they are sorted alphabetically.

Thank you so so much, this helps a lot!! I'll look a bit more into stand alone vs series, because Im still editing the text and I've got plenty of time to decide! This definitely helped to clear up the things Id been confused about 🌼🌼

Ugh. I’m trying to choose a category for a story featuring one cis man, an amab genderqueer person, and an afab person with non-traditional elements to her gender presentation. After reading these comments and the guide linked to above, It sounds like there’s no good place to put it that won’t provoke backlash.

What is the story about? Where would you put it if all the characters were cisgender?

Transgender & Crossdressers is probably a category that is accepting of gender variation, so I think you wouldn’t get backslash there, but if the story has a strong other focus it might be that your readers aren’t there.

It’s about a casual encounter between three people after a punk rock basement show in the 90s. Vignette about subculture and people who don’t color inside the lines sexually or in terms of gender expression. I’d be inclined to put it in Group Sex, but it sounds like there’s a lot of homophobia/biphobia amongst readers in the category.

I also don’t think it would fit in Transgender & Crossdressers, just given that 95% of the Trans content there is gross fetishization of MtF people (with some notable and fantastic exceptions like your writing partner) and my story is about as far away from “chick with a dick” stuff as I can imagine.

But I also don’t want to put it in Gay Male, because of the woman in the story.

Your story sounds like something I’d like to read, so I hope you’ll let us know once it’s out :)

Group could be a good fit, if threesome is the point of the encounter. Maybe you could include some kind of content warning in the beginning, in addition to using fitting tags. You don’t need to be overly explicit or apologetic, just include something like “content warning: gay sex” or something. Then if someone is stupid enough to read it’s their problem. Good luck and don’t be too afraid of the readers.

if you post anything in Loving Wives you will be inundated with harassment from cuckies like 26thNC and his sock puppet aliases for days! These porn-site Trolls spend every minute of the day Trolling authors constantly.

After getting feedback from the awesome @Kumquatqueen, I think I’m going to put it in Gay Male. It’s not a perfect fit, but the main encounter is between a cis man and a male-identified genderqueer person. The woman participates, but is mostly an observer/encourager.

Thanks so much for your insights. Can’t wait to throw a link into your joint review thread once it’s up.

This is oh, so true. And "icky" is an incredibly mild way of putting it. You don't even have to have two men doing anything together. The homophobic trolls will lose their narrow little pea brains if a girl sticks her finger in a guy's rear during a blowjob. Or if a guy likes being pegged by his truly loving wife. A guy kissing his woman after swallowing following a blowjob. They'll screech and scream that the category's wrong.

These trolls, they're sensitive, y'know.

Write what you want to write. To hell with scores and the like. If you don't like what you're writing, find a different hobby.
