Hello, everyone! I've been reading stories here at Literotica for quite some time and have just recently registered. I have one story I'm working on for the Toys & Masturbation category; hopefully, I'll have it ready to submit in a couple of weeks or so (note the "or so," which could mean next November... )

In the meantime, I've written a parody of a song, and would like to submit it. I have two questions, though; one is, should it go in the Humor & Satire category (as opposed to poetry) and two, can I even submit it at all because it doesn't meet the 750-word minimum? I've seen one song parody in the humor category, but it's from 2001 so I don't know if the rules have changed since then as far as word minimum.

I did try searching the boards, so if I missed it if the question has already been answered, I apologize.

By the way, my real name is Kelly. My username, wildomona, is a combination of two of my past favorite sex toys (may they rest in peace and "oops"). In fact, they inspired my song parody.

I look forward to hanging out here; from my lurking on the forums, you seem like a nice bunch!

The song would most likely go in the humor/parody catagory. However, Poetry would be an acceptable alternate.

There are several reasons for the 750 minimum. One big reason is that you cannot sufficiently develop a character and plot in few words than that. As far a song is concerned, I'm not sure it would be subject to that kind of requirement.

However, since many poems posted are 500 words or fewer, it would be safer to post it there.

And welcum to Lit, Kelly

Thanks, Jenny. I think I'll go ahead and submit it to the humor category. I've been looking through the poetry section and haven't seen anything humorous there. If it gets rejected, I'll try again under poetry. Makes complete sense about character development as a reason for the 750-word minimum. Hopefully I'll be posting back here soon with a link to my parody. :)

Kelly,

You may get lucky. When the editors review stories for posting, often times they will change the catagory to one that is more appropriate without telling you.

Good luck, girl
