The decended of the lander slowed down a bit and Pete finaly could see more of the landscape outside the small windows. The sky was a mixure of green and orange with white clouds that could have straight from earth. But this wasn't earth. This was PX567B.4 the first planet the Terran Exploration Group had found that contained more life then just some microbes.
For the last 3 month the TEG cruiser Berlin hat orbited the fourth planet in this system and had prodded and examined it in every way possible. The sensors and teleskops had found a basic civilisation comparable to the middle ages back on earth. A probe send down 6 week ago had not only confirmed that there was a civilisation, it also had provided the fact that the atmosphere should be breathable for humans.
The real surprising fact was something entierly different. The inhabitants of PX567B.4 where human. Yes, they had red skin, but otherwise they seemed to be as human as possible. They hadn't been entierly sure about that because they where wearing clothes and the fact that the probe only had "seen" what appeare to be female inhabitants was strange too but this was why he was on his way to the surface. It was his mission to make first contact.
The descent slowed further and he could see the tops of some trees and then, with a bump, he had touched down. The trajectory of his landing should have brought him into a small clearing in a forest some miles outside of a larger settlement. Observation from orbit didn't suggest any centralized goverment and strange enought there where no signs of war whatsoever, no walls, battlefields or strongholds. Settlements seemed to have some basic protection against the wild but that's all.
He had about an hour untill people would arive and he put this hour to good use. First he checked his instruments to make sure that the air outside was breathable. Then he let some of it into the lander and slowly unsealed his vac-suite. He couldn't find any negative effects and so he continued to expose himself a bit more to the atmosphere untill the hour had passed and he was standing in his grey uniform infront of the lander waiting for the inhabitants to arrive. He hoped to be an imposing site with his 6'4", short cropped blonde hair and handsome features.
Arrive they did, five of them, all wearing a variation of trousers and a shirt both of which seemed to be made of leather. All five where female and had either red, black or brown hair all of them wearing it eihter long and open or in a pony tail. They stoped at the edge of the clearing and one of them took another step and spoke something which he didn't understand at all.
