First concert?

I know we have a few music lovers on the board, (DVS, I expect you to chime in here), so I'm curious to hear about y'all's first concert. (No, not the grade three Xmas recital, I'm talking rock n' roll).

My first was David Bowie. I was 14 and thought I'd found god. This was his "Serious Moonlight Tour", just after his "Let's Dance" album came out. To this day it remains my favourite concert.

He had, I think, a ten piece band, and several costume changes. The audience was probably the most eclectic I've ever seen. From punk rockers to old hippies. Very cool.

At the end of the performance, golden balloons in the shapes of full and crescent moons were dropped from the ceiling. I still have mine...and I don't keep much, I am the anti-pack rat.

I was there with my five closest friends. I wore blue pants with black polka dots, some old, ripped up t-shirt, and my head was almost shaved, (it had grown back in, so I had stubble). I shouted until I was hoarse and I couldn't hear for 24 hours but MAN that was some fun. Bowie put on one hell of a show!

I can't remember what my first bar show was. I've been to so many. I think it was something shitty like the Gin Blossoms all ages or something.

Disturbed and bloodsimple. It was amazing. I had a throw away camera and I've *yet* to develop the pictures.

And the times I went to Ozzfest. The last time I got to meet Jamey Jasta, the lead singer of Hatebreed. I had the biggest crush on him. That was definitely one of my favorites. He must have really remembered me. I was the girl in the very front that flashed him while they were performing.

Yeah, I was thinking stadium concert. I've never seen U2 in concert but my boyfriend, Cam, and I used to love sucking face to "Sunday Bloody Sunday" when it first came out. Angry, angry love. I was kind of sad when they went pop.

I really wanted to go see Trans-Siberian Orchestra this year in Denver, but it didn't work out. Oh well, there's always next year.

well, everyone else has all these rock concerts and I am pituring myself as a kid in my ruffled dress clutching my flute case, dreaming of the day I would play in an REAL symphony. Didn't happen but I did enjoy my years playing.

If you're talking about that, mine was NYPhil Zubin Mehta cond. in Van Cortlandt park. I was maybe 6. There were pre-concert fireworks that freaked me out.

I'm not a huge fan musically, but they are one of the only bands that can fill and work a space of that scale - as *show* it's really amazing. This was really quite something. I love love love Michael Franti, but Disposable Heroes were not able to scale out to Yankee Stadium. Very few bands possibly could.

I’ve never been to a concert, was too expensive.

The first music event I ever went too was an underground punk show thing. It was horrid. The house was about 200 degrees, so many people were packed in bodys where pressed hard against each other. It stank like human shit, and fuckers would start swinging fists and body slamming, in the middle of that packed environment. The band was insane, the singer ripped a hanging light bulb from the ceiling and smashed it on his forehead and smeared it around. Bloody. I ended up on the porch and talked to this older chick who apparently came 30 miles for that shit. Then she started telling me all her boyfriend shit and I wasn’t paying attention anymore. At one point cops showed up, and of all the shit going on, they came to see about an illegally parked car.

In high school I wished I could have gone to a Rammstein concert. Before they sucked.

My mama went to high school with the scorpions, says they always plaid at her school.

Oh wait, when I was like 5 my cousin took me a to a party, I don’t know what he was thinking, drugs, sex, music like that, not really for kids. Some big boobed chick thought I was cute and no matter what I said she thought it adorable. Then some dude just kind of waved her over and she practically jumped in his lap, really pissed me off.
