Well, it finally happened.

The world tore itself apart in a bitter war. Most if not all countries are now gone and the only thing left is everyone for themselves, or so I believe. See, I live in a large shelter out in the middle of Nevada, the temperate is mild during the seasons and I have been preparing for everything. Some called me paranoid but I prefer to be prepared. It all came suddenly and when China started launching attacks against Russia the other countries followed suit. That's all I know. I have stayed inside my shelter every since and that was six months ago. In six months I have been looking out for new people and wondered if anyone was still alive I all of this. The nearest town was thirty miles away and I wasn't wiling to travel all that way thus I had learned to be self sufficient.

This facility cost a fortune to make but it was well worth it. The fifteen foot tall three foot thick reinforced concrete walls surrounded a fifty square acre plot of flat, fertile land good for farming that was starting to bloom and there were some buildings on top, my house with a tool shed and a two car garage. Inside was the H.A.M radio as well as satellite and cable communications that were still not working and there was a hatch in the garage that left fifty feet down to the underground shelter that was ten rooms of reinforced concrete. It was my bunker that had years worth of stockpiled supplies.

I carried a AR-15 assault rifle and a .45 ACP with me at all times and in the morning I start my patrol of walking about the perimeter of the base, checking the traps for any game as well as any attempts at infiltration. Thus far only a couple of squirrels and a snake. Not bad but no signs of any humans.

Want to take part? Feel free to add your character and come on in. It's open to everyone. BUT to begin you must approach the gate of my safe house and we'll go in from there. I'm open to everyone so long as you're here with no hostile intent :)

Going about the perimeter and checking the traps and going back inside for breakfast I go to the kitchen and take a can of Irish oatmeal and get the stove up and running and begin burning some porridge with real milk from one of my cows and take out half a loaf of German black bread and sit at the table eating slowly and reading one of my many magazines to keep my mind busy and lay my rifle on the table before me.

Waiting at the safe house was nora linde. She had been a historian and paraplegic, who had warned of the attacks months earlier and been rejected.
Now, she had heard their was an opportunity to trade survival for being cataloged and experimented on

There was a sensor on the road that went off by weight and the light bulb on the map showing the location told me someone was out there and I rushed out. It had gone off before when animals touched it but I never left it go so going towards the front gate and climbing up the ladder beside it and looking out there was a person out there about a hundred yards out and it was a woman, apparently alone. Raising a hand I beckoned her to come forth to within earshot so we could communicate.

Commander, I am professor Linde. I was given your name, by your former aide.
She told me you were interested in exploring the effect of the attacks on intellect and physical transformation. Consider me your lab rat

"Do you come bearing weapons or anyone else?" I shouted back. I nthis day in age you could never be too careful. I was going to search everyone and everything for contraband and any threats.

Just historical novels and a notebook. along with mre's
Nothing which could be used again you.
I have also secured some gold

"We'll see about that" calling back, "Come forth and be reconzied" the name didn't strike a bell with me but having been alone almost every name of everyone I had ever met had faded, I couldn't even remember my cousin's name that I played through so many summers together with. Going down to the gate I pressed the code and it began to slide open to the right and revealed this stranger as I kept my weapons ready for a struggle.

I wheel in then put my hands up dropping my duffel at his feet.
I await the touch of his rough hands

I have her step to the side and check her baggage and lay everything out so that nothing is missed and then have her turn about and stroke her body to find any hidden items, not a pat down because there is a high chance of missing something that way, we do it the way the Army trained me.
