Finding bras

the only problem with not going to victorias secret is this - theres no other place around here to buy bras.
I know that sounds really rediculous but the closest place besides vic secret is about 2 1/2 hours away, whereas vic secret is only an hour.
I've tried walmart but the bras dont seem to be sized right at all.
36D is to small, 36DD seems closer but still a bit small. And i have never seen anything bigger than a DD at walmart here. <Small town.
Is there a way to measure myself properly so i can order online or something?

I have been getting bras at Lane Bryant. They size you and help you find bras.

I go to Lane Bryant or the Catherine's chain as well. Lane Bryant lately has been doing a better job with a wide range of sizes and choices. I was raised in Vanity Fair bras and still like them to an extent. I agree with the price thing too....you get what you pay for. I 've got a large breasted friend who swears by the Walcoal (sp) brand at $60 a piece or so but when I tried buying one, they don't have the band size I need.
With this heat in the south I tend to wear the t-shirt cotton bras in the summer. They will absorb distribute any moisture evenly and who wants heat rash under your breasts?? it's painful and itchy and can quickly turn into a yeast infection as well.

Thank goodness for baby poweder with cornstarch for these 100+ days lately!!!

buying bra

You might get a chuckle out of this. I recently bought a bra for myself at Lane Bryant. I asked for a 50B. She asked who it was for and I told her, reluctantly, that it was for me. She explained they did not have that size but a 46C with an expander was as good as they could do. She looked at me and said it will probably be a bit loose but might work ok. I bought it and it works satisfactorily.

Small boobs here (34b) so lingerie is my place to shop for them. I don't wear bras a lot since my clothes hide it. Cheaper places have better bras like Kmart. Shocking but true. I hate the foam pads too. Just remove them. A lot can be. I buy mine at Victoria Secret but they are expensive. I think there is a new bra made for you I saw on a commercial. Think Victoria Secret has it.

Smaller boobs here (34A). The only ones I've found that are light and fit right are, believe it or not, in the Junior's section at the Super Kmarts (the smaller ones don't have them). I tell them they're for my (non-existent) daughter.

I went bra shopping today, but I couldn't find anything good. Everything was padded! My size is perfectly fine, and foam gets really hot. Plus all the shoulder straps were far too short, even when adjusted to maximum length.

Does anyone know a good place to buy bras? All I want are a few plain, maybe pushup bras. I don't care if my nipples show through.

If you have any in your area, or maybe if they have online shop (I'm not sure, I always but in actual shop) you should check Tezenis. I buy lots of bras there, I just bought one black lace one, non-padded of course, a month ago or something.

New Yorker is also a good place to check if you have the chance. Their bras are mostly padded, but the pads are usually removable with most models of bras. Their largest size is a D though, I believe, and smallest is A but it's almost the size of a B, so if you have very small or very large tits, this may not be a place for you.

As for straps, IDK, never have problems with them myself.

The only push up bras that DO NOT have padding are the kind that have very small wired cups that literally shove your breasts up in an unnatural and uncomfortable position too high on your chest to actually look good under a normal shirt. I've tried several from different brands and hated all of them.

Actually, if you want a well engineered "push up" bra without any bump up pad inside (or extra wires - huh?), Le Mystere's Isabella is designed to move the breast tissue "front and center", without any additional padding [other than the contour micro foam]. The lace overlay is also a Leaver's lace - the flattest machine loom lace made - which means that it is possible to use the Isabella as a t-shirt bra option.

As for position - the fullest part of the breast tissue is meant to sit half way between the shoulder and elbow, with arms resting at the sides [straight down]. A longer or shorter torso will change placement slightly, but anything drastically outside of that guideline throws off the entire vertical proportion of the body.

If you want a push up bra that you're going to look normal in, just get a normal padded one like everyone else, it's not like a padded push up bra is a big deal.

Um... for some women, it *is* a big deal. I'm a 32C; I refuse to wear them as I consider it A) false advertising and B) push up bras rarely work with soft breast tissue [which I have]. Not all bras are designed to work with all breast tissue, which means not all women can wear a push up bra [or a plunge, or a tulip seam, or a three-part cup, etc, etc].

This entire thread is really informative! I finally found the correct size bra. I went to one of the stores mentioned in this thread, found out I had on incorrect bra cup size . I needed a F cup instead.

I missed this thread the first time around; glad it came back to the top. I'm finally biting the bullet and getting a professional fitting. I'm not sure why it makes me so nervous, especially since the woman working in our local Macy's do come across as grandmotherly.

I need to find a comfortable bra, that is pretty, that has slight padding (cause it's real obvious when I am cold), and then I will buy several! Sadly, what usually fits the best are the big, solid, four hook, thick strapped bras. (My breasts aren't that large, either! (38/40C, depending...although I'm sure to find out I'm wrong)). I've never bought on of these and have always settled for a less-than-ideal fit. Hopefully meeting with a fitter will be helpful.
This what I did ...had a professional fitting..... its worth it!

What about us poor souls who has a boob bigger than the other? Mine don't look different, but if I've got on an iffy bra, I can definitely feel it. It doesn't help that my grandmother loves to buy bras for me without giving me the opportunity to try them on. Most of what I get from her has to go into my donation box!

Surprisingly enough, though, Victoria's Secret bras are the most comfortable for me. However, since I can't afford to go there every single time I need a new bra (especially if I'm going out on my own after college and plan on being dead broke for many a year), are there any tricks to accommodating two different boobies with one bra?
