Here is my two cents.

First, while I respect and treasure all the women of Lit, they are exceptional. 99.99% of "regular" women do not visit porn sites and are not open about sexuality. Bear this in mind when weighing some of their opinions.

I think it's true that some of it involves the woman's attitude and relaxation, etc. Those things can surely prohibit or inhibit the ability to deepthroat.

But I think it is also a physiological thing. Gag reflex is their to save your life. Many people cannot "overcome" it any more than they can "overcome" the patellar reflex that makes your leg jerk when struck with a hammer. Some exceptional women can overcome the gag reflex. I think they are rare.

I think the matter of size is important. The size of your cock, yes. But the size of the woman, her mouth and throat. Small women are going to have a tougher time of it, as a rule. So, I would suggest looking for bigger women. The only woman who could deep throat my average sized cock was nearly 6 feet tall and very large.

Something happened the other day that made me think of this thread. Now I've never really been a fan of the whole upside down deep throat.. I taught myself on my knees...
