It wasn’t the attention he was receiving, well not really. Since he moved from Belgium to the states, he was getting used to the question of where he was from and comments about his accent. Perhaps people did not understand that though he had a heavy accent, he was fluent in English and very capable of picking up the nuances. He might play a bit with the prettier girls, allowing them to do a bit more explaining than necessary, but it helped him bed a number of cute to hot young honeys since he arrived. It seemed his advanced age for a college student was trumped by his unique appeal.
Lukas did not intend to stay in the US, but, he had extended his stay more than once, the last time, with difficulty. It seemed that since his internship with NYU ended, and he did not have a sponsor, he would need to leave the states for home under someone else’s direction, rather than a decision of his own. He had wandered the sidewalk jungle of the big city for months, desperate to find not only a position, but someone with enough heart to sponsor his employ and take a chance – should he decide to return to Brussels.
He walked down into the aisle of the off Broadway theatre, answering yet another ad, looking for his contact.
As she passed, Lukas stopped a young girl hurrying by. “Where might I find Lisa Harlon?” He added a bit thicker accent, the young thing would make a nice late night distraction. She continued to hurry and pointed toward the stage. There was a point when she looked back at him, but she soon disappeared through the exit at the back of the auditorium.
He headed for the stage to find Lisa, the Artistic Director.
