As for that list ever since lit made it so people can store unlimited favorites its a lot harder to get on it.
When I hit it a couple of years back I was number 250 with less than 400 favs.
Now the #250 spot is 732 so it can take an author awhile to hit that especially if they write in lesser viewed categories.
No surprise many in the top part of the list either write almost all incest or have a bunch of them.
Are you saying there are only 732 authors on here?

No, what was saying is that you have to be on at least 732 favorites pages to hit the top 250 author list.

I would like to know how many authors are on here and out of that number how many are "active. Active meaning maybe a story in the last year or so.

I'm on the top 250 list, but I wouldn't know it without this list (I'd seen it a few times before). It's not like anyone from Lit contacts you and says "congratulations, you're on the list, what prize do you want......"
You gotta write a lot of stories to hit this list, obviously, and what real purpose does it have, other than the pride of knowing that readers enjoy your stories.....
Number of stories really doesn't mean anything there.
There is an author on there with around 1100 favs. They are off of one damn story. One. The all time highest incest story here. Then he vanished. A one hit wonder, but it was a hit.
There are many authors on there with less than a hundred stories. Always wantedtoo has about 90, but all but a couple are mother/son hence how far up he is.
Another author is in the to 25 on one series that should be put out to pasture, but its orgy incest and that series has him well over 2500 favs.
Paco fear is way up there and has only 30 stories.
On the other hand some people have hundreds and don't make it or are not hat high on the list.

I wrote a cousin incest and hinted at bro sis, but mother son, NO! It does not tickle my pickle.
Was the 1100 fav story a mother son. What is the name?
This is another cool list.
Top 250 most favorited stories.

Funny when you look at this list. Just like the authors list I think its a mix of quality and popularity. 11 of the first 13 are incest.

Before the categories were established there was an alphabetical list of all authors on the Story Page menu and they were numbered. At that time there were over50,000 Literotica authors listed. There probably are apprciably more now.
Not really. I'm on it with only 45 stories in five years, and only three of them are incest.
As to the purpose, I did notice at least a little bit of increased readership when I hit the list, and I should imagine that increases the higher you rise ( I'm only at about 212 right now )
It's actually what prompted me to go look. I had an odd flurry of activity during a long drought between stories. Blinked around to the various pages I thought could have caused it, and noticed I'd made the list.
Not bad for a BDSM Valentines Day story.

At first that number seemed pretty high, but according to this WayBackMachine screen shot from Jan. 15, 2007...there were 30,176 published authors as of then.

Amazing how many blow their entire loads in just one or two stories.
