"Find an Editor" feature laughable?

I'm either terribly confused about how the "Find an Editor" feature works, or it is a joke.

I've been writing a BDSM/Fantasy novel with lots of romance. When I try specifying these search parameters into the engine, I get a 1000 hits. When I try to narrow down the search results with even more factors, I STILL get a 1000 hits with the exact same results.

Within those 1000 hits, Editors are listed who have no interest at all in BDSM and only match just a single one of my requests, like "novel" or "fantasy".

To further compound the problem, I have no way of ordening these results. They're all alphabeticly ordered and I can't do anything to arrange the list in order last updated or best matching.

Posting here remains the only viable way of finding an Editor, which really saddens me actually. I'm partial to to a little bit of discretion, at least untill my novel is finished.

Posting here, I think you'll have the best luck. Those of us that have time in our schedules check here to pick up more work. If the cat isn't one we're comfortable with, we'll pass it over.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'a little bit of discretion'. We don't pass stories around to each other and make comments on them.

Good luck. Give it a few days and someone should poke their head in with an offer to help.

As much as my contrarian instincts hate to admit it, I have to agree with MistressLynn. If you don't get a response soon, you might also check out the Active Editors - January 2009 stickym to see who is available now.

You might get a better response (and a more discrete one) if you switch on your Private Messages. Go to User CP (top left of this page) then click on Edit Options (in the left hand column) and then tick Enable Private Messaging in the second box down. Make sure that the next box down (Receive Private Messages only from Buddies and Moderators) is NOT ticked. Finally click Save Changes at the bottom of that page.

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes, untill the "find an editor" feature gains greatly in functionality, I shall relegate myself to these boards instead.

And thanks Snooper for your tip on PMs. I had no idea yet that I had to turn those on mannually.

Well then, I'm off to make my first Editor wanted post.
