Finally! Something is being "done" about special needs kids!

This isn't just about the short-bus riders. The autism and down syndrome tax is included in Obamacare as well.

It's about time the govt' and medical community does something to squash those useless retards!

You want to be squashed?

I was in special ed in high school after it was determined by the school psychologist that I had a specific learning disability in mathematical comprehension and mental processing speed.

The Weschler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-IV) standardized intelligence test determined that I had an overall IQ of ~89. Or 11 points below average.

Besides math and extra time on tests, all of my other classes were regular-ed and I was able to graduate with a 3.6 GPA.

Academics in college are substantially more difficult and advanced than what is encountered in high school. High school students whom intend on going to college should start preparing in their sophomore year. This is what AP credits and college prep courses are for.

It is not likely that I would succeed in a college environment, the college curriculum would be too difficult and overwhelming. Most likely I would encounter difficulties and fail.

I thought your IQ was 70.

There aren't very many college students with IQ's below 100.

The average IQ of a special education placement is between 60-80.

Well lucky for you newspapers are written at about and 8th grade reading level so you should be able to understand this.

The government is looking for new ways to make money off of special needs children since their disabilities often extremely limit their academic and occupational potential.

The US federal government makes several trillion dollars per year in black budget funds from their involvement in the domestic narcotics trade. Or in other words, herds of poor and skeezy unemployed people who choose to make their living through dealing drugs and a life of crime are unwittingly putting their two cents in by giving the govt' a cut of the money. Sort of like a hidden tax.

The government is secretly plotting against the impoverished, the unemployed, the very elderly, and the disabled. This is an excellent example of eugenics and social Darwinism at work.

The theories put forth by Darwin and Spencer were absolutely right!

I thought that all kids were special? It would explain a lot about our education system, at least.

So food stamps, Medicare and Social Security, and the various ADA laws are what exactly? You do realize your argument makes little to no sense.

Additionally, many colleges and universities throughout the United States offer programs for special needs students.

Certainly these programs are not bachelors degree programs. I cannot imagine how anyone with below-average intelligence could acquire a bachelors degree or greater. Even an associates degree from a community college would be a tall order.

I'm just trying to make a point that his claims are not based on reality. But perhaps someone quoting the Bible and talking about needing things "done" should remember Mark 12:31. And in case he forgets what it says: "The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[a] There is no commandment greater than these."

As far as I know these are programs designed to help students earn their BA or BS.

Honestly, it would be a tall order for say some Roto-Rooter plumbers to scam millions of people and a major cable network into bellieving ghosts are real.

Accepting the fact that you have below-average intelligence is a very difficult pill to swallow. Especially for someone with high standards such as myself.

I only quote the bible when that quote deals with punishment and damnation.

Right. Standards so high you've found some sort of clearly fake, untrue article about crazy government conspiracies that don't exist.

The govt' is going to put a "special needs tax" on parents of partially-retarded children.

This is in fine print in the pages of Obamacare.

Actually since it's a national law it would be a tax on all of us. Also you're not willing to pay an extra dollar (or whatever it may be) to help someone out in a position similar to yours? And if it's such a horrible plan why did it get endorsed by major child health care advocates?

“We’re very pleased the Supreme Court upheld the entire Affordable Care Act,” said National Family Voices Executive Director Sophie Arao-Nguyen. “The law is a great step forward in protecting and improving the health of all children, including children and youth with special health care needs and disabilities.

People with disabilities should be forcibly sterilized and kept socially/economically/medically oppressed in order to prevent them from passing their disabilities and defective genes onto another generation of human beings.

Read up about evolutionary theory and social Darwinism..

For most people, life is cruel and unfair, and prosperity is reserved only for the extremely few.

Huh? Where? There's the cap on Flex Spending Accounts but that goes for health care spending. If you're using that on special needs kids (instead of say, Medicaid), then you still get a government tax subsidy in doing so.

You were duped.
