Finally finished digging out from about two feet of snow. My back's killing me and my arms feel like I just about 15 sets on the bench. My street hasn't been plowed yet and the main street mine dumps onto hasn't been plowed since about 4am so it's not in very good shape either.

And the whole time I'm shoveling I'm thinking to myself, "Why do I like living in New England?" I didn't really come up with any good answers.

So, does anybody know what the current housing market in Arizona is like? :D

Florida is nice this time of year, too. Though it's kind of cold right now...burrr. ;)

Glad you survived!

I don't think there's anywhere in the states that's very warm right now.....was even snowing here this morning.

Snow! In Alabama? I thought there were rules against that kind of thing?

Today's high - 72 :p

I'd wait until July to buy here, though. ;)

If it helps any, I just checked and my original statement was incorrect. It was 78 today, not 72.

Your pic reminds me of the time the public service union in Eastern Mass. went out on strike on a Friday night. The forecast was for possible flurries, we got 12 inches by 8AM.

After a declaration of emergency they couldn't get to the plows. Emergency services commandeered all of the snowmobiles in a three county area. This was in 1961.

Just got an E-Mail from a family member on Cape with the N.W.S. (National Weather Service) forecast for Cape Cod and the Islands. They were talking about anywhere from 28-38 inches of snow with sustained winds in the area of 50-60 M.P.H. and gusts well over 75 M.P.H.

Kind of reminds me of one of the reasons I left that place.:D

Cheerfull, it made it up to a whopping 66° here today. (West Palm Beach.)

Yup, a good old fashioned Nor' Easter. The Cape definitly bore the brunt of this storm.

Winds were only about 25-40 mph here with maybe 26-30" of snow. Diffacult to tell with all the drifting. Some of the drifts are 5 or 6 feet and a couple of places around the house have no snow at all.

It's a balmy 5 degrees here now.

Monday
Partly cloudy. Patchy fog with visibility less than one quarter mile at times in the morning. Highs 66 to 72. Light winds.

forecast for here....mind you, the girls are also pretty and we also have a winning football and baseball team, plus summers are much better than Arizona...althugh I will admit to there being pretty girls in AZ too.

on the downside, the housing prices will likely give you just a small case of sticker shock

Generally speaking, the market is a sellers' market right now, especially in Metro Phoenix, but there are some great bargains if you don't need to live near the city.

If you own your own home outright in NE, particularly in or near a city, you would probably have enough to pay cash for a decent home here, even close to Phoenix, and still have money to set aside.

Like for paying for emergency AC repairs when your unit quits during July. And remember, when you're here in July, 100 degrees qualifies as a cold snap. (and that isn't much of an exaggeration :) )

I grew up in MA, and after 2 feet of snow from a March 1993 storm left me sleeping on the floor at my job because the police had closed the roads, I decided to move where shoveling only happens in stalls and corrals.

Those can be avoided. :)

Dress warm, shovel safe, and if all else fails, close the curtains, pretend it is still June.

Good luck!

Well, we haven't had too much snow this year but a little is also appreciated. So this morning I got a little surprise looking out of my door.....

Snoopy, WOOF !

Snoopy, that would make a fantastic Christmas Card!
I look out my front door to a parking lot with cars and trucks of all sizes, and its too cold to look out the back! lol

Please don't take this the wrong way as I say it with the utmost affection, but would you kindly go fuck yourself. :D

I had to dig out a car buried in about four feet of snow drift. My passenger side was encased in three inches of ice. I had trouble getting it started as the air intakes were all clogged and there was probably moisture in the gas tank and lines. I don't even want to go into the massive icicle that was hanging perioulously over my car. We still have to shovel out 70-yards worth of sidewalk.

Oh yeah, and there is the dumpster at the end of the driveway that needs to be liberated from its icy prison or else the whole back yard is going to get funkified. Of course it is so fucking cold outside that the smell would probably not even begin to matriculate until April.

Yeah, you'd better be admitting that....:p

I knew there was a reason there are so many CA plates on the roads lately.

Feel free to throw it back in my face in a couple of months when I'm melting. :D

I love snow!!

Only one foot in Ct. and my school district was delayed two hours. The drifts are so beautiful, and artistic!! Why should I move to Arizona, when I have a greenhouse full of over 1,000 kinds of cactus and succulents? Definitely the best of both worlds!

Sack:)

for your half of CT...
we got 2ft on average and tomorrow were expecting another 2-4". ah! the joys of winta!

Dont know what to expect for weather today, most likely snow since we didnt get much yesterday.

I was thinking back, when I was a kid we would get so much snow that the plows would pile the snow along the roads up to the hydro wires, and we are complaining about a few feet, hmmm.

I hate frigging winter!

How about I FedEx you a snowball and you can toss it at yourself for me. ;)

I think I am more or less dug out, but the streets in my fair city are still in need of further plowing.

I was wondering if it were possible to take all the snow in New England and make a pile so big that it would still have remnants by the beginning of next winter.

That works, too, but you'd better insulate it really well or it'll be melted before I get it. :D

Got an E-Mail from a friend of mine up on Cape, he included a picture of his house buried under snow. (Not to mention his car, his yard, etc.) I replied by sending him a picture of the sun setting over lake Mangonia, as seen through several Palm Trees. (Yes we're very good friends. He was Best Man at my wedding.)
