released in space.

The final wishes of former "Star Trek" actor James Doohan, who played Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the franchise, were honored Tuesday when his ashes were released into outer space.

The actor, who died in July of 2005, left specific instructions in his will to distribute his remains beyond Earth's atmosphere. And on Tuesday, a small urn containing a portion of Doohan's ashes was successfully sent into orbit via SpaceX's unmanned Falcon 9 rocket, which took off from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

.......But, 7 years to beam him up? It freaking figures it would take that long for someone to get that damn transporter working right with old Scotty gone.

Celestis' prices vary. A suborbital flight with a return to Earth starts at $1,000, the launch into Earth orbit is $3,000, and a trip to the Moon costs almost $10,000. If you really want to go where no man has gone before, a flight into deep space will run you almost $13,000

I think those are pretty reasonable costs. I think I'll start a "burial" fund. :)
I've wanted to go in to space since the Mercury program. Better late than never.
