Which is your favorite Final Fantasy game and character?
My favorite game is FF X, My fav characater is Vivi from FF 9. Although I do love the entire series.

My favourite Final Fantasy is by far FF6 (Final Fantasy 3 american). IT had so many plot twists and so many chatacters, each with their own story to tell.

As for my favourite character that one is a lot tougher. I'm really haveing a hard time thinking about this. Sphereoth (the villen from FFVII) is the ultimate bad ass, but as for a hero I'm almost at a loss. I'll come back later when I've had a little more time to think about it.

I found it hard to get into VII.

Only becasue it was a PC and PS game.

FF2 was good, loved the music at the top of Mt Doom? Where Cecil turns into a Paladin.

Final Fantasy 2 (U.S.).
Edge from two and Shadow from three.

From then on, the series began to get too mechanicaly advanced, stealing the feel of magic from the FF setting that I always loved.

I havn't played it yet, but if and when I do, FF 4 (the one that never got released in the U.S., you know, the one with the 'jobs' system? Like in FF Tactics.) I believe that would become my new favorite.

So far I love FFVII better than any other FF's. But I haven't played 1-5 yet. :\

Final Fantasy VII is my favorite of the games so far. Sephiroth kicked ass.

My favorite waould have to be the one and only original. It helped spawn a whole new era of RPG video games, as well as singlehandedly saving Square from bankruptcy. Plus, Black Mage kicks ass.

After that it's hard to say. They all have thier points, but all the sequels have yet to top the original.

I dont know which one is my favorite to be honest. All I know is that it is not VII or V. I didn't like either one of those.

VIII's story line was intresting, but I hated the fighting/exp system with drawing magic spells.

X had the best fighting/exp system by far, of course I saved up so much that I killed the final boss in one hit!

IX was cool because it was a shout out back to the days of IV which is one of my favorites because it was the first one I played.

X does have the best fighting system, and side quests. Blitz ball kicks ass, they could make a game with just blitz ball and it would sell. And I loved to play cards in 8 and 9.

FF7, which set a new standard in gamesplaying.

Although I did love FF2 on the Gameboy....it was amazing!

III and X have been my favorites. I didn't like VII. I thought the control was somewhat icky. I think it was because they were just getting used to the 3-d thing. VIII was okay, but I didn't like certain things about it. The focus seemed to be overly reliant on GFs and nothing else.

III has been my favorite since it had a lot of characters who all had a fairly deep background, and who all got explored. My problem with VII is nothing really distinguished each character in battle. It all became a matter of materia. I liked X's advancement system, although the basic one presented in III is good.

I have not gotten to play IX, so it's hard to say how I feel about it.

X was good at making individual characters seem unique, and the dumb battles never were longer than they strictly had to be. That was another frustrating thing about VII. Stupid battles took a lot more time than they should have.

My favs vary from game to game. My favorites in III were Cyan and Setzer. My favorite in X was Lulu, but all the characters were likable.

Summons don't count right? Otherwise it's Bahamut all the way. He was a character in the first FF after all. I've never played FF2 or FF8 yet, so I can't say about them. Also, since FF1-3 didn't name their playable characters, I'll leave them out (although people like Dash in FF3 were fun to have around).

10.) Edge (FF4)
9.) Cloud (FF7)
8.) Locke (FF6)
7.) Aerith (FF7)
6.) Shadow (FF6)
5.) Vivi (FF9)
4.) Rydia (FF4)
3.) Leo (FF6)
2.) Sephiroth (FF7)

1.) Kain (FF4)

You just don't fuck with Kain. He'll backstab you in a heartbeat. (I know he was weak of will and possessed - but still. One bad ass mofo of a Dragoon)

By the way, Ravenloft, I think you mean FF5. Although FF4 characters have 'jobs' (classifications), those traits are fixed on the character. FF5 featured the ability to switch your character's classification as the story progressed. So did FF3.

It's tough for me to pick my favorite FF game. It's a toss up between III & VII. Favorite character from III would definitely be Shadow. No question about favorite character from VII.....Sephiroth (I've even got the First Knights figure).

FF3 (6 in Japan) is my favorite, and damn me, but I loved Kefka. he was the quintessential nutcase... and that laugh...

But I really love the fighting system in X, and the Sphere Grid is MUCH better then Drawing (I hated that) but it was WAY too linier. Not enough exploration.

Laz: How did you kill the final boss in 1 hit? unless you had a hacked game with Damage Limit Break and Damage Limit Break...

I know someone who had nightmares with that laugh running through it. There are some really bizarre techno mixes that incorporate Kefka's laugh.

You can get ROMs of the first six FF games at various places online. I like http://www.emuasylum.com/index.php. You'll also need a couple emulators to play them on- I suggest NESten and SNES9xw. You can get both at http://www.vimm.net

Incidentally, you can find the remade versions of the first two games here, but you'll need yet a third emulator to play them on.

Thanks for the site. :D
