Just watched it last night. El Stud rented it and apparently his criterion for deciding upon VHS or DVD is how many added features the DVD has. To quote, "I got the tape because I don't want all that shit. I just want to watch the movie."

Fine, whatever.

At the end we both looked at each other and said, "That's very Japanese."

James Woods was so not the best voice for General Bad Guy.

You should have rented "Sexy Beast" instead. Leave the cartoons to the kiddies and the immature DandD crowd.

He rented them. He got that and The Emporer's New Groove.

I would not allow my kid to watch Final Fantasy. He's too young and hasn't reconciled TV and it's place within reality yet.

I wanted to go to After Dark Video, but he just rolled his eyes and went to the grocery store.

Ving Rhames has a sexy voice.

I dunno, I actully liked FF. And considering the fact that I like most Japanese things, might be why.

DVD vs Video

For some people DVD is " all that & a bag of chips " for all those special features. Which is all fine and well if the movie warrents your interest in cast and crew bios, trailers, behind the scenes looks and interviews. For most movies it just is not worth all that time and trouble unless you are a die hard technical fan of stuff like that.

Now when a movie like Star Wars ( the first three of them with Mark Hamil and Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher ) comes out on DVD years after it's release, then I am interested in all those things about it. But for animation and kids movies, it is not really worth it.

I for one love it when a DVD has out takes. But please ... don't run the scene over and over and over again. That is just boring the shit out of me. It was funny the first time. Not the 5th time. A Bug's Life and Toy Story has some of the funniest out takes I have ever seen. Even though some of them were made up. Armegeddon has one of the best out take reels on it.

For a movie that is worth the extra features they have packed into it, check out The Abyss, or Gladiator. Both of these have some fantastic special features. And Me, Myself and Irene has very funny hidden features. A lot of DVD's are hiding easter eggs in them now. If you don't know the sites that list the hidden features on DVD's, PM me and I'll give you the URL's of them.

If it's not on DVD, I ain't renting it. Mostly.

The big appeal for me is the ability to pause it, come back 20 minutes later, and it's still paused. My VCR doesn't do that. And the picture's much better when paused. You know, for those occasional breast shots. :D Same price as a tape too.

I really liked the Final Fantasy movie but I'm an RPG junkie so my vote doesn't count. Phenomenal visuals in that one! It'll definitely be part of my collection!

Ugh....Thou Thou Thou!!! Thou thou??

Pssst.....That was from FF 3 (u.s. version in case you don't know)

LOL!

I'm a big Final Fantasy fan too...I haven't had much time for video games so I haven't gotten to a PS2 yet...I wasn't aware there were THAT many FF games...I remember playing the first one like 16 years ago...

And with that in mind I found the movie visually brilliant...but a total letdown as it had absolutely nothing to do with Final fantasy...at all...

LAaahhhh!

I was partial to Sephiroth :D Got some great Sephy-Vincent stuff last night from Tyrael.

Sad but true facts about me...Like 3 or 4 years ago when FF8 came out it was just before a five day Thanksgiving weekend...pooped the game in my Playstation...and i did not step foot out of my apartment untill the following Tuesday...i even called in sick that Monday just to finish it!

But it was just such a cool game...the inbetween computer graphics just blew me away...if anyone knows what I'm talking about the graduation scene with clous and Rinoa dancing was beautiful.

I went over FF7 with a fine tooth comb about a year ago...armed with a cheat book...I was amazed at how much i missed...

Mawhahahah....

*dies a rather cartoonish death* OOhh OOhh....my heart I think its breaking.....Sephie?!?!?! ICK! Naw...Vincent its all about him...:p

The game I'm playin now...Legend of Dragoon has a main character who looks like Vash (Tyreal's old old AV) and Vincent...mhh....hehe...But I like Mog too....did they have moogles in the movie? I forget....how about chocobos? I know they had one or the other...

The outtakes on FF were somewhat comical I thought. Of course in a scripted animated flick, they were staged, but good to see the developers having some fun!

Speaking of easter eggs, did you check out the video with the FF "cast" doing Michael Jackson's Thriller? I cracked up! Little wonder why they were so far over budget and late releasing it.

And yeah, I liked the movie. Being in graphic animation designer, yeah, I was impressed. I've watched it three times now and still can't tell you what the movie was about...

As for the movie...it's kinda hard to take a series that tells a story over the span of 30-40 hours and squeeze it into 2 hours.
