I see the final award voting is up. I was actually surprised my story didn't make it to the final four in the loving wives category, as it seemed odd in that it had 4 or 5 nominations out of a total of 21 posts, yet it didn't make the cut. I just knew I shouldn't have got my hopes up. LOL

Oh well, c'est la vie I suppose. :)

Hi Jennifer,

If you let me know which category your story was nominated in, I will definitely check. I do know that some of the stories nominated were submitted in 2001 and thus were ineligible for this contest, as it was only to include stories submitted in 2000. I don't know whether or not was the case with your story. Either way, let me know via email or on this thread. Thanks for your support, and your stories! ;)

Hmmm

Laurel, I just desided to look in on how the catagories that I'm interested in are doing, and the darn thing wanted me to vote again! It looks like we may have a problem here, Houston. Are we suposed to vote every time we log in? Or are we on an honor system?

No worries. Most of the time it will not allow you to vote again because of the cookies. If the cookies fail and you do vote again, I have a special IP screener I run a few times a day that helps me spot repeat voters. No fraud here!

And Jennifer, I do apologize. You were right - you should have been included. I have added your story to the voting. ;)

I knew that you would be on top of it

As ussall, you are tow steps ahead of me, must get boring.

Not with you behind me... rrowrr rowrrr... ;)

(and Never says I don't flirt...)

BTW how can we check vote totals with out voting when it asks us to?

And come over here and sit on my face,my lovely.

No, we purposefully made it so that you must vote to see the tallies. We wanted people to vote for what they really enjoyed without being biased by the current vote totals. After you vote, you can check them all day. I know I do. :)

And what a firend you are! *takes a seat* ;)

But Hun, I voted Last night, and it is insisting that I vote again to check the vote talleys. Hmmm, you're soaking my beard, feel a little scratchy, or just added stimulation?

LMAO! That durn stubble...

Go ahead and vote again and I'll remove the dupes. Out of curiousity, could you send me in email what browser you use (IE or Netscape), how you access the net (AOL, another host, etc.), and what type of computer you operate (Mac or PC)?

Do you really have to remove my dupes? Everybody elses' I think should be, but mine? Well you know that my heart is pure, and my soul Republican, so of course my votes must be corect...all of them.

I think that I forgot to tell you in myu email< I use a local dail-up ISP, that is fighting with Southwestern Bell for enough phone lines to service us.

BTW This beard is 4 months old and as soft as the hair between your ears, but curlly and short.

Thanks Laural. I hope I didn't sound too whiney. Looking at the early voting, it appears that perhaps my story should have been left off the list anyway. lol :)

In trying to check the vote tallies, it is making me vote again as well. First time around it indeed came up saying that I've already voted and with that I could just click to check tallies, but now when I came back it looked as though it didn't know that I had already voted.

Jenn, there is a long way to go, and I think that you are doing quite well considering that you weren't included at first. I had missed your story the first time arround, and just read it. It is very good. Good Luck.

I had noticed a story in the romance category that was posted 1/12/01 on the site. However, it has been included in the 2000 awards. Was it submitted prior to 2001?

Misery

I think you're referring to my story, The Gentleman Highwayman? I was a little surprised at first, but it was submitted on Christmas Eve, so I guess that's the criteria for eligibility, rather the date it was posted on?

Not the best time to submit a story for a speedy posting in hindsight, over the Christmas holidays while Laurel and Manu were abroad :)

I had the same voting thing happen to me. I got to vote twice. We authors are the ones who are going to be checking the status the most, and so if we have to vote everytime to check...

Hmm...do you have your cookies activated?

I have no idea what the above sentence means. A tech friend of mine said to ask it. It sounds dirty to me, but I've been assured it's not.

Yes, I do have cookies enabled. (this is the only site where I do have them enabled) and when I just checked, the voting page wants me to vote again.

If the voting page is depending on IPs to control duplicate voting, it's not going to work because my IP changes with nearly every logon.

The only way to insure that there are no duplicate votes, is to maintain a log of who has voted on the server. The member id number can be obtained from the cooky for the BB and stored. There is no other way to insure that each member only votes once.

I'm thinking...

Right about now is when Laurel starts to mutter...

"I had to go and have VOTES...votes...damn votes...dagnabbit wrenglewabbit...strawberries, that's where I had them with the strawberries..."

Another week of this and she'll be fingerpainting in a nice white room.

MP ;)

That's how it's done. You're one smart 'cookie', WH!

And MP, you underestimate me! I think I can go, oh, a whole week and a half before the fingerpainting and drooling begins...

A week and a half?

I'll take those odds...

MAYBE 5 days...3 if Fred's thread takes off ;-)

LOL

Now, what did I do with those craft supplies...

Feeling a little stressed? Come over here. Let me rub your feet, I think I have some choclats around here somwhere. Let me see. We'll get you through this.

Hey Jennifer, I noticed as well the first day I realized that the voting was going on that your story was not there and now it is. I wonder what impact that may have had ... i.e. if someone had gone there to vote, wanting to vote for yours, but then upon yours not being there, voting for one of the others instead, but now that yours is there a day or so later, how could one revise their vote for you if they wanted to?

An imperfect world we live in. Oh well,I voted for you. :)

Everytime I have logged on to check the votes recently, I have been asked to vote again! Also, it seems that some of the nominees have changed since first I voted, which is surprising. What's the story?
