Is it just me, or is that cinematic cutscene in Final Fantasy X with the lake and all just the most romantic, emotionally evocative, and technically brilliant love scene that's been produced in the last several years? Movies, TV, anything? If you haven't seen it, do. It's worth getting the game and playing halfway through, even if you don't like RPGs.

Any one know when FFX gets relised in Australia? I love Final Fantasy games. About the finish the 3rd disc on FFIX, up to Terra.

No idea. It is out in the US, in English, though, so you could probably order one online right now.

I heard that FFX is supposed to come out in Australia within the next few months. Just speculation, though.

I'd have to agree, heterotic.
I thought the scene was wonderfully done, especially how they utilized the whole "these people don't need to breath underwater for this reason or that" idea. It ended up being very romantic and very different.

FF8 and FF9 had a lot of very romantic scenes as well. Squaresoft is pretty good with romance in general, I think.

Yay! There is another who's seen it and knows I'm not... too crazy. :) The setting, the flow, even the lighting was unreal but perfect.
I feel validated.

Now I can post my next crazy question.

Well as for the whole no need to breathe whilst underwater.

How did you think they played Blitzball?. They play the game inside a great big fish tank.

Besides, I still think FF7 had the most emotional scene of all.

I didn't think FF7 ever concentrated too much on the romance. I was one of the people who enjoyed the relationship between Cloud and Aeris rather than Cloud's with Tifa (which I didn't really even see as existing). So I liked the scene in the temple of ancients where Cait Sith tells the two of them their stars are meant for each other and stuff. I thought that was sweet. And then I saw Tifa as an outsider trying to intrude on their relationship.

I'd have to say the ending of FF9 is about the best so far, though. It had me bawlilng the first time to the tune of Melodies of Life.

I wasn't referring to romance in FF7. I was talking about how FF7 had the most emotional scene. Aeris' death and the lake funeral.

Anyway, FF9 did have a more believable love story. You could see how the attraction grew beetween Zidane and Garnet as the adventure progressed.

Unlike in FF8, where in the blink of an eye Squall and Rinoa stopped being 2 people in the same vicinity and became lovers. I never understood that one.

FFX marks the first one where the kiss was shown on screen instead of the customary fade to black as the lips drew near. I never understood why kissing in video games was so taboo. It's hard to believe that two people love each other when they can't bring themselves to even touch each other. That's what made the romance in FFX so much better.

Actually, FFX was beaten out a few years ago by Xenogears for a great on-screen kiss. This kiss was done in an anime sequence between Fei and Ely. And after that it DID fade out and when it faded back in, it was the next morning and Ely was holding a blanket over her naked body. They had some fun. ^_^

Oh yeah I forgot about the Xenogears kiss. I just remeber Xenogears as being the first one where the lovers actually made love.

Yes! Yet another reason Xenogears is the greatest thing manufactured by humans.

::expectantly looking forward to Xenosaga at the end of February::

Never mind let's keep the topic on FF love scenes.

Now you have me needing to keep playing the blasted game. I have not reached that scene yet. Thanks alot people.......between that and the other games I am playing my sleep has gone to hell.

Nic,:D

I've been hurting for sleep too. But, y'know, you just have to have your priorities straight. After all, you can sleep any time; at work, during a class, in the car... :)
