Seriously, we need to be pulling troops out of Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, etc. Not putting more in and throwing good money after bad. It's time to discard the sunken cost fallacy and cut our losses in the Middle East.
There is no good outcome that will happen if we just persist. If we pull out troops out today or thirty years from today, the outcome is the same: chaos, with foreign powers stepping in...so, just give it up, you meddlesome interventionist SOBs. Enough with the warmongering in a region that we should have stayed out of entirely from the outset.
It was wrong to go in...and it's even more wrong to stay. But try telling that to the defense contractor lobbyists and other lackeys of the military industrial complex. It's not in America's best interests to be spread so thin, so overextended, as we are. It helps only the captains of industry and the hedge fund managers and the agents of the national security state.
This is what happens when foreign policy is ignored and domestic policy is the sole focus of politics. It's time for peace. It's time to pull out, as we should have done ages ago. Indeed, we should never have gone in at all. It's not our war. Period.
