do you check for new comments in your stories?

I'm finally down to once a day. I hope this fascination goes away so I can stick my nose in the air, get all hoity-toity, and say, oh yeah, I just check once a week or so, when I remember.

Okay. Make that twice a day.

*irked*

First thing in the morning, when I get home at night and before going to bed. This stuff is really addictive.

Although it's been a few days since the last time anyone commented... *sigh*

I got hoity-toity fast. Only checked a couple times after the thing was initiated. Don't even think about it, though I am happy to post for others.

Perdita

The only comment I have so far is one from Og commenting on my one and only poem, fer chrissake.

At least it was when I last checked, logging on. . .

Never check them. I just happen to notice if there are more whilst checking my scores 3 times a day.

I check once a week whether I need to or not.

Most of my stories have been up for a while, so they don't have any comments to them as yet. But I just submited a new story, so hopefully that will get the ball rolling.

Haven't look at that page in ages, to be honest...

Raph, who might end up submitting more stories now that the NaNo novel's done.

I just had a new story posted....so I "just happened" to notice while I was looking to see if the sheep were headed south for the winter or my submission had posted. (Damn, 3 to 9 days) And, I still have no comments.....*sigh*

Whisper :rose:

hiya

checked them about three or four times since it started, must have a peep, had four last time i looked.

I only have two comments. *sniff* I just console myself every time I look that unless people have been checking out the threads in AH, they still don't know what they are or how to do it. Same with voting ...

Gauche, you made me LOL

Of course that if they are checking the threads in AH, they don't have that much time left to comment. :D

'Fuck Christmas.'

I second your sour seasonal sentiment, Lauren, but your peekaboo Christmas avatar might yet melt my 'bah humbug' attitude. At this year's Christmas dinner, the question: "Anyone for a little more breast?" will carry a whole new meaning.

Edited to pry my eyes away from Lauren's yuletide fashion statement and return to the subject at hand:

I check every day. I like to see how many people are still accessing the stories and what ratings they have. I get some comments by email, but none in the public comments boxes. That may be because I need to submit a new story. If you're going to share your writing with the public, I think it's important to know whether the public is enjoying the experience.

I did make one important change regarding voting yesterday, however. I've been avoiding telling authors what vote I gave their stories unless it was a five. I was afraid someone might get miffed and throw a lowball onto one or more of my stories. Yesterday, I got over that. I told a new writer I had delivered a vote of three, and I even explained why. It was nothing terrible; just that I thought he/she needs to work a little more at plotting and story lines to rate a 4(good) or 5(excellent) score. I still like seeing hot ratings and scores over 4.5, but it never did keep me awake worrying, and now I guess I've reached the point where I know I can get those things if I try, so I'm willing to risk losing them now and then in order to stay true to the craft. I feel so bloody noble it's sickening. It's time for some self discipline. Maybe I'd better go back and drool over Lauren's avatar again to remind myself how trashy I really am.

In the spirit of Christmas, I've decided to begin posting comments on the stories of all those who say they don't check for new comments on their stories.

:D

Perdita, you ask why I don't write? Are you kidding? This reading business is the best!!!

Check votes and views?

Check views? How do you do that? And in God's name what are votes? People vote? Do they do that after they read the stuff? They all sit around and raise their hand or put thumbs up or down?

I thought my submitted stories went to some never never land to be read only by never never people, who don't vote no matter the election.

Besides I visit this site to see naked women.

Are you making fun of Floridians?

I never check my comments. Well, I don't I keep them turned off. I think they distract from the email feedback.

GOOD GWEEF!

Not only do I have to contend with Lauren's tantalising peekaboo Christmas hooter, but now Shereads has started using September Morn, one of my favourite paintings. It's a plot! You ladies are trying to leave me all starry eyed like a schoolboy sent to deliver pizza to Britney Spears' dressing room. One for each literary lady for spinning such enjoyable plots: :rose: :rose:

I have a story pending, so I check my "view" page once or
twice a day. I look whether I have any public comments
when I do that. Only one so far.

I confess to have been checking. Originally to see if the d*** story had been posted and now to see if there has been feedback. Five P/C so far and eight e-mail feedbacks on one story falling 11/2 supportive/critical.

I will be chaecking fairly regularly as the story is being published over five weeks, my excuse is that I need to maintain some idea of the progress of reviews prior to posting. ;)

Ahem...
"I don't check for new comments on my stories."

(But that's only because they don't get any anyway, because they're old, and rarely even get read.)

I do check on the poems, since I spit out a handful each week, so they get noticed.

Damn, that means I'm still stuck at one comment.

Nobody likes my stories good enough to say so in public, boohoohoohoo:(

BT

I've downloaded yours for Xmas reading, expect some P/C post Xmas.

Who are we kidding......

A comment I thought from another thread went something like this.......

"I am a whore for scores and comments........"

I look to see if stories are still being read, number of votes, scores, etc.

I can't figure out how some of the most read stories get 1 million reads......... long way from my most read story of 62K plus views.

Maybe it was the first story on lit........ yeah..... and nothing else was available for months........ that's it.... not!!!!!!!

I take what I get!! Still makes me want to write more!

Mtn

I usually just check mine whenever I log onto Lit (which is usually anywhere from 1-3 times a day, but has only been about once a day lately because I have been busy.)

The only public comment that I have gotten was the one that Ogg left after I said I didn't have any comments in the original thread about the new feature.
