Hello everyone, I am a male starting the change from male to female and was wondering who else out there might have experienced the change.
For myself I live in a homophobic environment so I have to be in the closet as long as possible. :) Basically it is looking like a mess. Honestly I am scared.
But it is something I have to do. Any thoughts?

I'm about to start the same thing. Fortunately I have a nurturing environment, but that doesn't make coming out any easier. The most basic advice is find a therapist. Search around for a good one, preferably with GLBT experience.

I also suggest you start growing out your hair if you haven't already. It's subtle, but it does wonders once it's long enough to pull back. Plus you can always claim you're going for a rugged 1700's look.

Thank you temp256 I will do that....I am letting my hair grow starting in the back.....subtle changes....grooming my eyebrows back gradually....my side burns are gone......I had fun shopping online at Avons for cosmetics and bodysprays......learning to use them...

Thank you Tymeless, :rose: I may take you up on that. I have found a very nice doctor who is helping me but I am not sure how long I can afford him. Other than personal turmoil about identity and such I am not too bad right now......once my family finds out.....ouch! I know part of my family will kick me out immediately being of the hate mongering far religious right types..... :) no loss there, I do not like being with them anyway.

all my friends are starting to find out and have been great the next step is starting therapy for me andtelling my parents who are generally understanding but i'll find out in about 3-5 months when i tell them haha.

Hello Tymeless
My one understanding sister knows, I told her yesterday. Like all straights she instantly visualized me having anal sex, she said she found that repulsive. I informerd her that orientation is not about sex.....well.....not techinally anyway. :)
she mellowed out. But geez....that was my understanding sister.
Now I am curious...am I gay if I am a woman in a mans body?

if u follow through with the transistion and u like men no your straight. if you follow through and u like women your a lesbian, and if u follow through and you like both then your bi-sexual i personally am a lesbian that hasn't totally ruled out being with a guy once i transition.

LOL... maybe, but if I am not fully a woman inside my head does'nt that make me gay? What is interesting about this transgender stuff is that according to some in the field of medicine we all have traits male and female.....it depends how much one way or the other. So we all fall within a broad spectrum of gender identification. I am not certain where I am. I know I have denied myself the real me because of my "male" lifestyle. I have a admission, I cry in the movies...my ex(a woman) would remain dry eyed. :D

nice yeah tis all very interesting only you and your therapist can sort it out

Exactly only the individual can determine their true sexual orientation.... :) Yes, my feminine qualities have been sacrificed in the name of male bonding. I wonder how many of us out there suppress our male or female traits in the name of sexual stereotyping to be true to their birth sex and that demanded of them by social dynamics :rose:

Does anyone know of any products that are good at ridding oneself of unwanted hair?

This will be harder than you might think, so it's best to be prepared. Looking forward to hearing more from you ...

The only permanent way to destroy the follicle is electrolysis. Hormones and lasers might be enough for body hair, but facial hair is persistant. If you mean temporarily, razors or magic shave works best.

Look for better insurance. Most will cover therapy if categorized as anything but transgenderism. Some will cover hormones as a generic "hormone imbalance". If you're lucky enough to live in Minnesota like me, one company will even cover surgery.

Thank you timberwolf05, I will do that, I did get ripped off by a product that claimed to be as good as electrolysis. I was hopeing to find reccomendations to spare myself a repeat.

Thanks lost_in_space, I will do that. Stupid or mad I think not, generous and kind I think would be a better description.
