Like most actual lesbians, they are not usually what hetero men are fantasizing about when they think girl-girl sex or woman-in-uniform.

Given the environment as well, any female that was actually promoted and selected to be drilling new recruits would have to be able to do everything they are made to do. Wet-behind-the-ears recruits won't respect someone telling them to do something that they can't do themselves. This means she's going to be butch, strong, scary, loud, and fully able to kick any recruit's ass. Backing up your words is a requirement for the job.

There's also the little thing called fraternization, and I find it a ridiculous concept that a female character who worked that hard to be a sergeant would jeopardize it with a subordinate just to think "Finally! A real man!" *puke*

Females often have to be tougher than their male counterparts to be able to make it in that testosterone-laden environment.

Also, a drill sergeant (either sex) isn't going to be anything but dominant, even IF they were stupid enough to bone a subordinate and risk getting caught (which also means being busted back to E1 and likely being sent to federal prison with a dishonorable discharge. Bye-bye any possible opportunities in the civilian world to get a decent job!).

There have been drill sergeants (men) who have used their position of authority to fuck a recruit, but the consequences for getting caught are extremely harsh unless you've got a "good ol' boy" system going on where your superiors look the other way. But then you've got an abusive system going on that could get blown wide open at any time (like the with Marines and Navy stories in the news lately--you know, Rumsfeld being sued).

This concept creates a stupid, short-sighted, 1-dimensional cut-out of a "woman" that would not be the least engaging or realistic.

I've written about a female drill sergeant before, I've even described her without her uniform in the shower, and she wasn't pretty, but she was likeable in a gruff way, and smart, good at her job (scaring the piss out of recruits), and maintained the respect she'd earned in a military environment. Give me a "sex story" with a character like that, and I'll be impressed, even if it probably wouldn't raise too many dicks into the air.

you know what is really funny? Here in Germany, there is a a Comedy-Show called "Sechserpack" (Sixpack). One of the recurring jokes is about a hot female drill sergeant and a soldier.

Unless they were doing something a lot worse than fucking a recruit they'd loose one maybe two ranks. You can get caught with kiddie porn and not get sent to the brig or busted down to E1. There is no reason she'd be scary or butch at all. She's gonna be loud and in your face but these things do not prevent her from being pretty. Seriously, can any of you think of anything more hideous than a twenty something woman in peak physical fitness? Quite possibly (not that you'd get to see it) with long flowing hair?

And maybe she can kick any recruits ass, maybe not. There are plenty of really big guys and shy of being Jackie Chan levels in martial arts an 110 lb girl is not doing shit to a two hundred plus pound man. That's simply not how reality functions. Not to mention there are plenty of young men who've taken lots of martial arts.

That whole they need to be tougher is bullshit and I wish people would stop saying that so they would stop thinking it too. That's one of the single biggest problems with military women is there are some (Let me not paint with a broad brush, don't want any of my Sisters to give me an earful) that think exactly that. And that's the reason why they end up ostracised and having the rest of us treat em like garbage when we can. It's not because they're women it's because they get away with a lot of shit. I had to tell my Sergeant that one day. That I respected her just fine, I respected her rank over me and there was no need for her to be as formal and forceful as she was being. Because regardless of rank if a man had gotten in my face with that tone of voice things would have ended differently.

So really Etaki is the one looking down on women because obviously only a butch woman would defend her country. She couldn't possibly be pretty.

Also remember who you "speak" with here. The average woman here probably has no issue with it.

Yeah most guys don't like femdom. Hell while I have no problem with it I don't LIKE it. However I don't think the lack of variety has anything to do with the lit crowd so much as just reality. There is a reason why we have thirteen Friday the 13th movies, countless Jackie Chan movies that may as well be clones of each other a dozen movies about meteors hitting the earth and just four movies about a Disney Land ride. That's just how people function and once writers be it books, or scripts figure out an audiance they all do the same thing. That's just how reality functions. It's not a bad thing it's just a fact.
