Fells Point is the favorite bar scene for Baltimore City... Lots of little bars with character and flavor serving the greatest variety of drinks you can imagine. It's just a walk away from the bay and all the other inner habor attractions.

What is your city's bar spot like?

Wicker Park, aka Liquor Park.

I miss bartending and listening to all my favorite music having glitter all over my chest being surrounded by fun albeit drunk folk and generally pretending to be much cooler than I really am.

Hey! You're a Bawlmer Bird! :D

In Washington DC, there are a couple hot bar spots. There's always Georgetown - by the University and not too awfully far from Downtown (where the monuments are). You walk everywhere and a bar crawl is a great adventure. But if you feel a tad bit trendier, or more eccentric, there's Adams Morgan. Lots of neighborhood quirkiness there. And, for an interesting slice of life, you can hit the Dupont Circle area. That's near American University and Embassy Row. It's also perhaps the Mecca of "Alternative Lifestyles" in the DC area. The restaurants there are damned good, too. Dupont Circle is more neighborhood-y than the others, though. Oh, and during the day, you can get a great chess game in the park near the Circle.

I'm in Suburbia, though. Not much but dance clubs and Western bars - meat markets, all of them.

Man, reading this post ...I just remembered why I hate this town I live in. Ain't a damn thing to do here except loiter at the mall.

Heh....if you don't hunt or drink heavily there aint much to do outside the home.

i go to ohio university in Athens ohio... and well... my WHOLE town is a bar town... we have 15 of them......and been to all but one....:)

Hey Jim,

I didn't know you were from the DC area....

Georgetown is pretty good. Lots of bars and all within walking distance. Heck that's where Hillary lives, I wonder if she hangs out in the bars trying to pick up guys.

I live in the burbs too. There's a champs sports bar and a billiards bar that has lots of beer and 10 or 12 pool tables too. That's one of my lunch spots.

Area 51 is the place to hangout here. Good music, good drinks, and lots of dirversion.

I heard the bar scence at OU is awesome, I have a freind from highschool that goes there. The bar scene at our school, we have about 6 major bars on campus and about 4 more across the river, that require a good walk to in the summer time. Or a Designated Driver.

Any Bar That The Folk Applaude When I Sing

Is Fine By Me! LOL

I HAve Done Many Of The Groovy Places Back In The Day, Here In TO. Though I Have To Say, That A Tavern On The Weekend Can Be Just As Much Fun As A Full Blown Club Or Popular Bar:)

Flipping Thriough A Local Magazine The Other Day, I Came Upon An Ad Fer One Of Those Supposed Ultra Funky, Only The Coolest People Get In, Kinda Clubs. Thurs, Fri AND Saturday, Are By Invitation Only! This Struck Me As SOOO COMPLETELY RUDE!

Now All I Can Think Of Is Obtaining An Invitation, Go Dressed Ta Kill, Then Go Into The Bathroom And Change Into My Most Hidious, Frumpy Outfit And Dance ALL Night In My Running Shoes!

And Remember This Does NOT Mean I Advocate Wearing This Form Of Clothing Out Fer The Night!

Dress The Fuck Up! Unless...

Bar town!!!

I'm not there, and haven't been for a little too long, but the best bar spot, town world is..............

Key West!!!!!!!!!

RhumbRunner:heart:

Hey give me a few more weeks! I just moved to S.F. :p

BTW, I miss the hanging in Fells Point.

In the winter...My favorite Mexican Restaurant...in the summer, off my deck 20 feet is the lake...a huge fire pit, two hammocks strung up between trees, little fairy lights hidden in the branches, on any given summer night someone is over visiting, we never seem to leave this spot under the stars...

Lol....I live in South Dakota! There isn't really a "bar spot" here...they are just scattered hither and thither :)

But, back in Portland....*sigh* Depends on what you want, I guess. Nob Hill is a bit trendy, but Uptown Billiards is a DAMN cool place, great tenders, great cooks, NICE tables... yeah. Up by UP, there are lots a bars...kinda that seedy college/ghetto bars since it IS sort of one of the bad neighborhoods! There's a string of them down in the Burnside district, most of the gay bars/clubs are there; the best music of course! :D

I am thinking the bar scene will be a bit different in Germany! I will have to find new haunts to sit back, sip a pint, and people watch... any tips?

mae

I live in a wee town - but according to The Times we are the university with most bars/pubs/restaurant per head/per student in the UK :D

Am I proud or what? :D

Halo :rose:

Impossible to say. I live in a fairly large city so it depends on what you're looking for. Do you want a good martini? Want to dance to hip hop? Live music your fancy? You a gay man looking to score, or are you a straight woman looking to score? Want a place where you can just get some decent wings and watch the game?

Each of those questions have answers.

Bourbon St.

French Quarter, New Orleans--even when Mardi Gras is over, it still kicks ass 24/7.

Bar spot? Bar spot? HAAAAAAAAAAAA HA hahahahahaha! *choke gag* Hahahaha!

I live in a city just north of West Palm Beach and we have more people than WPB. But I think we have uh... hm.... three bars/pubs? Wait, let me think... yep. Three. Two are in the same "spot". lol But they're dinky ass places that have such pretentions that you don't even want to go in. $3 cover to get into a hole in the wall and pay $5 a beer? HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhahahaha!

Sorry. Can't help myself. Hee hee!

No, all the real action is not here. :)

Ya can find a drinkie in CT.....

Stamford, Norwalk, and New Haven is where its at for
bars and lounges........pretty hip there....

Of course, if one stays local, take my hometown of Ffld
for example......ya got the Seagrape down by the beach
(frequented by FFld U students!).....the Skybox (formerly
Larkin's Varsity Club......actually used to be the site of
the Gaelic-American Club before it moved into a bigger
site) right in downtown.......also Boston Billiards......
and of course, in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport,
there's Captain's Cove (overlooking Long Island Sound)
in the summertime........

And ya can find lotsa bars in Ithaca, NY!

Ahhhhhhhh my college town.....where I was for 4
years, though I wasn't a bar hopper.......

I'm sure since I graduated back in '97 some places
had closed and new ones opened, but I recall spots
such as: Plums, The Haunt, Chanticleer, Rongovian
Embassy (aka "The Rongo"....which was in neighboring
Elmira), The Nines (good pizza!)......to name a few....
with two schools, Ithaca College (my alma mater!) and
Cornell.......one can't go wrong! :)

Viva La Nawlins! Gotta to be one of the best party towns in the world. Now that I think about it, I want to try Rio too.

Reading about Fells Point in Baltimore and then Adams Morgan in DC made me very nostalgic. I have good memories of these places.

In my city there is an area south of downtown called Five Points. It is chock full of restaurants, bars and shops. We also have some great little neighborhood spots to hear live music or just share a table with friends and get a little tipsy on a Friday night.

yeah all of our bars are on mainly one street within walking distance of the dorms....... although it can be a bitch because you have to go up hill from the dorms to get to the bars... and well coming back down the hills drunk is hard sometimes....... and most Friday and Saturday nights I can sit outside and watch all the drunk people roll down the hill....(yes some actually ROLL down the hill) and thats just on a typical weekend.... you should be here on Halloween.........complete mayhem..... AHHHH i love OU .. where drinking is a varsity sport!!!!
