Feeling a bit blue

Right now, Hubby's on the bus going down to Stockholm, to take the morning flight home again. He's been here for one week, and is coming back in two months.

He's only been gone for 3 hours, and I miss him already. And my throat hurts. I'm coming down with a cold.

How true that is!

As of today, my shoulder and arm hurt a little less, than before, but two of my fingers are numb. I have an appointment for physical therapy, but that's not until 3/29. I'm hoping this condition will have gone away by then!

Yesterday we started noticing that Ziba was not her usual ebullient self--she wasn't eating, she had vomited a few times, and the rest of the time she was curled up in that way cats have when they're not feeling very well, but don't want you to know about it. So this morning I tried to get her an appointment at the vet. They said they didn't have any appointments today, so I set one up for tomorrow. On the way home, I called my husband to ask how she was. He said that she had skittered downstairs, but still wasn't eating. Then he noticed something else strange--there was a string coming out of her butt! I told him not to pull it and to call the vet again and see if she couldn't be worked in. A few minutes later I called back, and they'd worked her in. I said I'd meet him at the clinic, and arrived just as they were arriving. A few minutes later the vet came to look at her. The string coming out of her ass was about a foot long.

A few minutes later, the doctor came back in holding in his green-latex-gloved hands a long piece of string, about as long as she was. This string had been on my windowshade.

That was the good news. The bad news is that there is still 6-8 inches of string inside her.

So the doctor has given her barium and kept her overnight. Hopefully, the barium will do its job and she won't have to have surgery. Hopefully, she'll survive just fine if she does. I know it's gonna be expensive.
