I just wanted to know what people do with their feedback. I have it in a folder on my email, but I need to do something with it. What about everyone else? Am I the only one who keeps it?

I keep all of mine. I know some people email new story alerts with links to their fans. It's a good way to get initial reads and such. But I use mine for motivation when I'm feeling down about my writing and such. It's a really great tool to have at your disposal. Any time I'm looking for a pat on the back I check it out.

:) I keep all feedback that's worth keeping. If it includes a name, I respond to it. I have several folders and I file it by either the subject or sender's name or whatever seems right. I like to get feedback and sometimes I have gotten some good suggestions from readers. Two of my stories, about Ashley and Janet and Ashley and Chantel are the results of reader suggestions and others have been written about readers. :) I also send advance notices of some stories to some faithful fans.

Most of my feedback is erotic and a majority of it is from women and it really helps get me up for writing more when I read it. Email from women telling me how they cum while reading my stories inspires me to write.:D

Wishful,

I just wanted to add that I have a separate folder for each of my stories. A very wise woman (Colly) was telling me that looking at previous works is a good way to continue evolving in your writing. I like to go back and look at my earlier stories and see what about them could be better or was just right. It also helps to see what feedbackers thought of certain parts of a story. What hit home for them in that one is bound to work again and can be a very useful tool when I have doubts about a new scene or even if I want something tried and true.

So each folder is the title of the story that has received feedback. I also have a general folder for those that read all the stories and just sent one feedback. These seem to be the most comprehensive and are certainly worth keeping. I sometimes think I'll compile a Word document with them all in a row, so I can get a good feel for what the overall attitude was from readers.

I keep all of them in a burlap sack...no wait, folder on my laptop all nice and jumbled (i'm really bad at organization, i prefer chaos  ).

I love feedback, especially considering that most of the private messages are extremely appreciative and personal. I get the occassional prig with a "u r a mooron. fick you!!!!!!" comment (especially on my essays), but I delete those immediately). Frankly, sometimes they're the great uplift from a run of bad public messages. My last essay on homophobia and its biblical roots got slammed in the public feedback really painfully, but I got a flood of very appreciative private feedbacks from (what I assume to be) gays and lesbians. It really helped cheer me up.

Anyway that's my $0.0199 cents worth (i'm a bit short this week)

I keep all feedback in a separate Outlook folder, even the anonymous crap. Someday I'll frame them, displaying side by side:

'Can you see any sunlight- or are you to far up your own arse?' -- Anonymous

and

'It is, bar none, the best erotic story I have ever read. You have my admiration.' -- George

Crap, I knew he was just flattering me. P. ;)

I also have a separate folder in Outlook where I keep my feedback - all of it.

It's nice when I need encouragement, OR need bringing back down to earth.
