Here's an idea for a story I want to write:

Man in his early to mid-thirties falls in love with a 15-year-old girl. Sexual scenes are included. However, in this story I want to make the characters, and their emotions, the focus, rather than the sex.

With that in mind, would a story like that be inappropriate for this site?

It would not be appropriate. No charaters involved in sex under the age of 18.

Not only is it not appropriate...

But, at Literotica.com, it is the rule that underage (meaning anything under the U.S. minimum legal adult age of 18) sex (even if "romantic" or "not the key focus") is not allowed.

18 isn't that great of a jump from 15. It shouldn't be difficult (or a "compromise" on your art form) to make this minor change. But, I suppose, if you do not wish to change the age you can try your story at Pixies. I was talking to a friend there last night about the "role play" stories and regular submitted stories and it seems they do allow any of the teen ages there. I'm not 100% positive, though.

It's OK, since as I continue to write it, the focus of this story is on almost everything but sex. Thanks for bringing that rule to my attention.

Now if a 30 year old was hacking up multitudes of 15 year olds, thats practically prime time TV :p

I think the theory is that is ok to portray unnice things if they are not portrayed as fun. But frankly it all falls down there because that sort of stuff is being portrayed as fun and people are watching it to get their kicks, obviously.

I wrote a story with a girl of age 18.. then I MET one and realised how old I had grown. I was actually thinking of an age around 22-25, or at least around as mature as I was then. 18 is still a baby! But I guess the age sort of sticks in your head because you grow up knowing that R18 = taboo.
