Plant some story seeds

You should develop some possible story lines out a couple of threads. That could help inspire some contributions as people get a feel for the story.

Think of it as the pilot of a series, or the first act of a movie -- how do you introduce the characters and hook the audience on wanting more?

Your premise is as good as most, so I don't think there's anything wrong with your introduction.

Adding a few threads would also be a vote of confidence for your own story, and would look more inviting as one to contribute to.

This is true, sometimes you read a good intro but its daunting to add the only other thread to it, feeling that you still have to explain alot of the story.

Or, an author sees what you've added and thinks " ahh, this isnt what I had planned!"

( I've never actually heard that last one but it stops me from adding too crazy an addition) :nana:

You should really write a few threads following on from the introduction, and not expect other authors to carry it for you. Having just write an intro it's quite possible that people are daunted about adding to it as they don't know what direction you want to take it in.

I quite like just writing the intro and seeing where other people take it from there. It sometimes gives exciting new directions that I hadn't thought of. In the intro, I also hint at some suggested paths to take if writers want to play it safe.

Someone has got to be the first person to add to the story.

One thing I have learned the hard way is that if you don't have a definate story you are going to write, then the story goes no where. You have to lead the way. Preferably you have will have two stories otherwise most writers are afraid that they will violate your purpose and get berated, I know that fear.

Secondly, there is the issue of writter's block, I try to add to stories as soon as I come up the next step, hence my eons of void. So I and I assume other are careful about starting on a thread, we don't want to start on something that dies.

Lastly, one of the other things I have picked up is that second person may seem the most logical person to use in this kind of tale it is very hard to write, English is just not accustomed to it. If I could I would go back in my tale and make it third person but I don't have the skill do so.

I still haven't had any new threads added to it. Could you read it and let me know what you think?

First Name=Man
Last Name=Woman

I really like the story and the idea of it. There has been so much new material added I am just having trouble finding the time to jump into it. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can add a thread or three.

I'll look forward to it. Cheers.
