They can't. They're beholden to Trump, but they have to consider their historical legacy, and history will judge them harshly if they overrule the unanimous District Court on obvious political grounds.

What I suspect they'll do is remand the case back to District Court for a 'do-over' with instructions to consider some obscure irrelevant point of law.

That leaves the Supreme Court's hands technically 'clean', and gives Trump the delay he so badly needs.

The good thing is if this decision stands Joe Biden can be indicted anywhere in the country the day he leaves office for a whole list of perceived offenses while in office.

Fentanyl deaths began before Biden and has almost nothing to do with securing the southern border. Anybody who thinks it does just doesn't understand smuggling. If you want to indict him for being an accessory to murder then Trump and Obama are in the exact same situation. We could end this tomorrow by making it easier for people to get legal pain killers. People addicted to OxyContin seems better than dying to Fentanyl but we gotta be hard on drugs right? Even when we see that the results are absolute trash.

Yes some drug dealers are lacing stuff with Fentanyl. I have a hard time believing that's a common thing though. I mean aren't addicts more valuable alive? Or do the dealers own the funeral homes?

They have Nikki Haley and from a purely legal sense I'd like to know if you really can drop out of a presidential nomination race or even really the general election. Like hypothetically Trump has a heart attack, Nikky gets hit by a bus does the Party just meet in their club house and pick someone? Would it go to DeSantis?
