My team has been sitting at a solid .500 all season (because I keep splitting games each week!) and I've not been able to pull off a trade to upgrade my receiving corps.

But in the last two days, I've pulled off two trades I consider pretty damned good.

Here's what I was trying to address:

1 - My regular WB, Brian GRiese is on a bye week. His string of hot games isn't guaranteed, though. Shanahan's a runnin' kind of coach.

2 - My receiving corps has no clear go-to guy. It's always been a crapshoot about which one is going to have a hot game. I needed to pull a #! guy from somewhere.

3 - My running backs are rock-solid (Rickey Williams, Curtis Martin, Charlie Garner, James Stewart). Garner gives me pause because he tends to wear out at the season goes. Stewart gives me pause because....well..he plays for the Lions! He's no Billy Sims, though he's not bad. And he gets banged up, too.

4 - I play in a keeper league and we can retain three players from our roster who weren't among our first three draft picks int he last two years. I'm scouting for credible young talent.

In the first deal I sent Kerry Collins, Charlie Garner, and Jerome Pathon away in return for Tommy Maddox, Chris Chambers, and Reggie Wayne (a potential keeper).

I then turned around and sent Tommy Maddox (Don't unpack, bud!), James Stewart, and Amani Toomer away and got back Tom Brady (seven games coming against seven pass defenses ranked 26th or lower!!), Eddie George, and David Patten (maybe a keeper? I don't know.).

All in all, I think I took care of some team needs and just maybe I can string together a few wins to climb up out of the middle of the pack!

If you're in a keeper league and are looking for a wideout upgrade Todd Pinkston might develop into a solid wideout next year. He's still inconsistent but he's shown flashes. Chris Chambers has struggled this year but is also a potential keeper.

If there is anyway for you to get Ashley Lelie I would. Stallworth is too coveted in most leagues but because Lelie has been brought around more slowly he's easier to bargain for. He will be a star.

Right now, among my potential keepers are (and mind you, we draft a HUGE team) Reggie Wayne, Corey Bradford, Todd Heap (though I cringe at keeping a TE).

I also have Koren Robinson in the vain hopes that someone, anyone, will throw him the damned ball. :)

Eddie George might qualify as a keeper for me as might Tom Brady, since I acquired them in trades.

We're suppose to swap QBs on bye weeks?

I don't know how your league works, but I have to suit up one QB each week and if he doesn't play I get a big fat zero for him for the week.

IN better news, though, my other team is in first still! :D

I have Heap on my team too. Heap is a keeper. Jeremy Shockey has gotten all the acclaim this year but Heap has really started to come along as the season has progressed and he looks to be every bit the next Shannon Sharpe. Shockey is a shoo in hall of famer barring injury but Heap will probably be right be hind him.

Running backs are always hard to come by, I have Tom Brady as my backup cause I couldn't unload him for an even remotely decent RB. The best rb I was offered for one of the top 5 fantasyQBs was Moe Williams. Moe fuckin Williams.

Corey Bradford is overrated imo. He's always been a good player on paper but hasn't gotten it together in Hou though Carr has looked to him more.

Robinson is never going to get it together. He's young and talented but I would cut my losses if you can get Santana Mos, Lelie or even David Terrell.

Hey Jazzman is Deion Branch still available?

I just released him but I don't play in a keeper. He wore out as the season went on but he has potential.
