Impressive's thread about our favourite stories got me thinking about this.

Who is your favourite character in any of your own stories?

How did this character come about?

Did you base the character on anyone you know, however loosely?

What is it about this character that you like?

Which of your story(ies) does this character appear in?

Give us a link!

Lou

P.S. I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours. :p

Oh, that would be Stormy in my upcoming Rainy Day story. She is a composite of me & other women I've known (and admired).

Of what's up, it would probably be the *I* in my first person POV stories -- also loosely based on myself. Best example would be in "Connecting Ch.02" at:

Anteia - from my Atlantis series. She appears briefly in the first one, but has a starring role in the second, even if she's not the main character.

How did this character come about?

Um...good question. She just was sort of....there, in my mind.

Did you base the character on anyone you know, however loosely?

Yes...she's very, very loosely based on our own lovely Lucky.

What is it about this character that you like?

She's gutsy, she goes after what she wants, and she has a sense of humor.

Atlantis Revisited, Ch. 02

Okay, sweetheart, your turn.....

Conn.

If I had based her upon someone, she wouldn't be my favorite, part of her charm forme is that she is totally a creation of my over active imagination. She isn't themain character, but rather the main character's lover and she came about largely on her own. I didn't do much in the way of preplanning her.

I love her because she is "real". Neither terribly beautiful nor terribly bright. She has problems that she deals with throguth the story. The one thing I think she is, as much if not moreso than any of my other characters is human.

And she's hot. :p

Matt Danger... Bondage Detective!!!

http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=125065

Matt Danger’s my noir private eye. A real hard-boiled dick. He talks tough, is always horny and sleazy as hell, and never has a clue as to what’s going on. His objective is not solving cases (because once you solve a case you stop getting paid, right?), but prolonging them so he can pocket his per diem and expenses.

Most of my porn stories are terribly serious, but Matt’s where I get to cut loose and have fun, especially with the tough-guy talk. All the sex is gratuitous, all the women are hot and slutty, all the men are despicable cads or besotted drunks, and all the lights are either red and blue neon or hot, naked lightbulbs. All shadows and guns and hot sweaty sex. I love it.

Wonderful! Gonna check out that one, too, as well as the other story you gave me the link to. I haven't forgotten! ;)

Mine is similar to yours, Colly. Not in nature, but in that she is completely a product of my imagination. I dread to think that there is actually anybody like her out there!

She is Quintana from my erotic horror story The Letting. She is the Mistress of the Quinque Sanguis ceremony and is dark and mysterious, beautiful and a downright evil bitch! I had a lot of fun writing her and developing her character. So much so, in fact, that I think she warrants much more than a short story.

Who is your favourite character in any of your own stories?

Marigold Popvitch is a probationary Crime Investigation Technician in the Justice Department of a post apocalyptic society. “Mother” is her partner. The crusty-old-veteran-who-doesn’t-want-a-partner, cliche.

How did this character come about?

She developed out of the plot requirements. Growing up in a survivalist commune, she finds herself a fish-out-of-water when she is forced to leave the commune and enters a technological community.

Did you base the character on anyone you know, however loosely?

Certainly, not knowingly.

What is it about this character that you like?

Her growth. She begins as a shy untutored hick being trained by somebody whom she finds irritatingly superior and unfair. Despite this she makes a place for herself due to her intelligence and her feisty personality.

Which of your story(ies) does this character appear in?

Marigold Popovitch was the heroine in "Mother & Popovitch" a never-to-be-published 75K word novel — the first one I ever tried to write.

The story had several large Black Holes in the plot, but I still like Marigold.

Mother & Popovitch exists only in the Archive of Unpublished Novels.

Oooh yes I love Matt Danger... *grins* Such good memories.....

er hmm! ok onto mine.

Just one favourite character?

I guess It would have to be the main character in my latest story

A Fruitful Life Actually, he is nameless. I never give his name throughout the whole story.

He was born in my mind one day whilst I was eating cherries on a train. A man in a suit was paying close attention to me as I did.

He is not based on anyone I know, he is just a complete figment of my imagination.

I really like how he is tender and loving and how he isn't afraid to take a chance. His character just came alive in my head and I found hims so easy to write.

My fav would have to be Micca - not my most read stories - but I really like this character and hope to take her further!!!

None you have read - yet. The novella sized story I'm in the process of finishing has a woman that I'm almost a bit infatuated by.

But my favourite character is not a character at all. Or can a 3rd person narrator have a personality? One of mine is fucking insane :)

Hmm, that's a toughie. Made even moreso by the fact that a lot of my characters, the ones that are the most fun to write, are also pretty despicable or otherwise bent ;)

shit, i don't know. I love almost every character I write because if I didn't then that means I didn't make them right. If I had to pick, it'd be one of my characters from one of my plays. If I had to pick just of my porn stories, i guess i'd have to go with Puck.

http://www.literotica.com:81/stories/showstory.php?id=152067

The character was based on the Irish myth, Shakespeare's interpretation of him, Gaiman's interpretation of him, and ultimately my trumping interpretation of him.

I love him not because he causes rampant chaos with his mischief but because he doesn't mean to. He's confused about humanity and is trying hard to learn about them and so does wild amoral things without thinking about it. Besides its fun to have a character completely removed from the sexual tension.

The story is above.

Tied for second would be my announcers from my Olympic story and Jack from my The Loser series which I swear I'll finish. The announcers for hijacking my own work with their antics, Jack for being so much of a bloody underdog.

Kris from Wingman. Because I think I have really captured the essence of what I liked about the real person.

Apart from my little Leprechaun dude, I hate my characters.

Malcolm I loved, but you guys hated him, so he's in the cupboard never to return.

I just love these threads to learn about others.

Cloudy, your story was beautiful.

Thank you. :rose:

I have one I'm rather fond of who seems to come up a lot :D but what would be the fun in telling? You'd all love her too :D

In other words, unashamed self-promotion: Read my stories and find out for yourselves ;)

It's a toss up between three characters that are still developing in my mind, two that are totally still in the making, Heather and and unnamed character that'll be in the first person in one I think'll be called "Shadows of the Storm" (but maybe not, that just came to me), and Delilah.
Can't really elaborate much on the two that still don't exist except in a few paragraphs no one but me has read. They're lovers, but at odds, and there's more going on than just the two of them there. Can read more if you want if I ever finish and post it.
Delilah, though I can't really give you the reason why. Being as she mostly exists in my head still. She exists in a story already called After the Party: Dana that I've already submitted (quite a while ago actually), but she's pretty much central to another story that is bouncing around in the creative centers upstairs...
Delilah will most likely be my first real sacrifice to the Lit. Gods. Can't really explain that until the story's done though.

You're welcome for being vague and unsharing...

Are you serious? You retired this character you liked because others disliked him?

Assuming that's true, it's a mistake (IMHO) given that, both love and hate are strong reactions, and a character that elicits a strong reaction is a strong character and a very useful writing tool.

You should never retire a character that draws strong reation. Those are the characters that you should be proudest of.

Who is your favourite character in any of your own stories?
I have two favorites. Violet in She Had Had Enough. totally insane, bumbling, funny...
Ianthe in Of Violets and Love, a superstition chain story. She is incredibly strong.

How did this character come about?
Violet came about just out of the blue. I base her on nothing I know but humor. An idiot savant kazoo player who goes on an adventure.
Ianthe ... well, I'd like to think I'm even a quarter as strong... again just based on soul imagination.

Did you base the character on anyone you know, however loosely?
i based neither of these characters on anyone i know.

Link it
She Had Had Enough
Of Violets and Love

Mine would be Arturo, the bar owner from "To those who wait".

The character actually came from a one-second snippet of a barman cleaning glasses, while his bar filled with football (soccer) fans. It was on a Ford commercial for Super Sunday, for those of you equally addicted to Sky Sports.

I decided to base him in Barcelona, though he could have been Italian in real life, because the football there has a wider political and social context, which I wanted to use. I like his quiet dignity, his old-world courtesy, and his patience.

Unfortunately, I lack the skills to put a link direct to the story, but feel free to search it out and comment.

Who is your favourite character in any of your own stories?

The ex-assassin Michael in my "The Survivors" series.

How did this character come about?

The whole thing started when I was discussing a very odd dream with my girlfriend.

Did you base the character on anyone you know, however loosely?

Sort of. A lot of Michael is loosely based on a melange of several special forces types that I knew while I was in the army.

What is it about this character that you like?

That he has gone from being "one of the most evil fuckers ever to walk the planet" to being in the position of trying to rebuild a society.

Which of your story(ies) does this character appear in?

The Survivors Ch 01 I re-wrote the first chapter and I am waiting for the revision to be approved. Ch 02 is also awayting approval.

Give us a link!

See my sig line for the link!

Lou

P.S. I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours. :p
