There's this new sandwich shop that opened up right down the street from my apartment. It's called Which Wich and I think I found a new favorite place to eat.

You can make any kind of sanwich you want. they have ten basic templates, and you go from there. Veggie, turkey, ham, beef, Italian . . . then you can pick from a big variety of sauces, cheese, and toppings.

I had a Monte Cristo. Turkey, ham, swiss cheese, spicy mustard, sliced tomatoes and pepperoncinis. :D

Damn . . . tasty.

I used to love Panera Bread's Sierra Turkey sandwich. Turkey with Onions, this lettuce stuff whose name eludes me, and chipotle sauce on Focaccia. But then they changed the formula for the bread to a "healthier" one (read cheaper and crappier) and I've not been as much a fan of it since.

Panera makes some good sandwiches. Haven't been to one in a couple years, though.

I was a big fan of Schlotsky's, but this Which Wich . . . I figure I could have a different sandwich every day for a couple months. Pretty inexpensive, too.

Panera bread is deadly to the thighs.....toooo good.

I guess my jewish heritage just screams out.....Hot Pastrami on Rye with spicey mustard and a kosher dill pickle on the side.

When I was living in Mississippi I was SOL.....things are better now. But nothing will beat the Carnegie Deli in NYC. :)

Yeah, whenever I go to one local (non-chain) restaurant here I always get the same sandwich. It comes on a toasted roll, lettuce, black olives, sweet onions, hot prosciutto, and those delicious and crisp pepperoncinis to give it a whang. Later, my mouth is watering. :)

ETA: We got a Jason's Deli recently and they serve some good stuff, as does Panera, which has been mentioned.

The best sandwich I ever had in my life was at an Irish pub called McGillicuddy's in Seattle (yes, Seattle). They called it a James Joyce, and was corned beef, turkey, swiss cheese and spicy brown mustard on a toasted onion bun.

I went there every day for about two weeks. :D

I gotta have variety. I'm convinced the owners of this place heard my silent, plaintive call . . . .

Me too. I don't go to this place often, but when I do...yum.

Another good place to check out is Lenny's Sub Shop...it was started in Mempgis TN and is quickly spreading throughout the US.

My fav is the Italian (but I call it the Heartburn Express)...Provolone, Ham, Prosciutto, Capicola and Genoa salami. I like mine with lettuce, tomato, red onion, banana peppers, spicey mustard, olive oil, and some salt and pepper.

And thank goodness there is a Lenny's in Clearwater ....

Sh! Don't let Cloudy hear that!

Well, naturally she's my favorite bad witch. You're my favorite good witch. ;)

Now, since you posted here, Glynndah, you have to tell me your favorite sandwich.

Lol. yes there is. I've been there. ;)

I like a good Italian sub, but the only dressing I can have on it is olive oil. No mustard, mayo, or anything else (as if anyone could mayo with pepperoni and salami).

BLTs: homemade ones with thick sliced bacon and fresh garden tomatoes on wheat berry bread. No lettuce. It just makes things slippery. :cathappy:

Now wait a minute! You can get a good peanut butter and banana sandwich in a lot of places in the South.

Outside Philly on the Main Line (Town of Merion, maybe?) there's a place called Murray's. They have a sandwich called a Corned Beef Special, which is corned beef, swiss, and cole slaw on marble rye. It's such a mess to eat, but soooo delicious! You can also get a Roast Beef or a Pastrami Special.

I also remember a little place in the town where I grew up that had hot Italian beef "au jus" sandwiches - just the hot beef on an Italian roll - and getting high and eating one of those was as close to heaven on earth as it got when I was in college. I believe that sandwich originated in Chicago, and it just beats the hell out of a Philly cheesesteak.

I'm a corned beef on rye fan. :)

I'm not huge on the whole sub shop thing, being partial to mexican and chinese as my fast food style destinations... but I don't mind it.

I do have very fond memories of a small chain in Dubuque called Pickle Barrel and here in San Diego I like Grab N' Go...

I know them as French Dip sandwiches. Yeah, they are damn tasty. Even better with melted provolone or Muenster on it.

This is true, I stand corrected.
