Favorite way to tie someone up?

I've only been bound with handcuffs and dog choke-collars, both of which I suppose work in a pinch, but I am thinking about possibly trying to get ahold of some other form of restraint. Something about handcuffs strikes me false--I'm not sure what it is. It seems almost silly and I don't find it particularly arousing. As for the choke-collars--they work all right, but when I'm bound with them I do not feel entirely controlled, as I could wriggle out of them, if I wanted.

What forms of restraint do you all prefer, and why?

Second on the list is leather restraints, simply because I think they LOOK sexy, as well as being handy for those of us who refuse to learn how to tie knots.

I did spot some cool looking bondage tape on ExtremeRestraints.com though which looks like it would be fun!

My favorite is as strict as possible using several pairs of leather (buckle) cuffs. With her sitting with her legs crossed, I use one pair to tie her hands behind her back, another to tie her elbows together making her arms totally immobile, then I use a pair to tie the ankles together. Now, I use a short piece of rope to go from the ankle cuffs down into her butt crack and up behind her and tie to the wrist cuffs nice and tight. Next, I make her suck in her belly and wrap some rope tightly around it. I move up and bind her breasts tightly together. Finally, I tie the end of her long braided hair around the elbow cuffs I placed fastened behind her which holds her head back. Now that I have her totally immobile, I am free to do whatever I want with her.

I really prefer rope, but am just learning, so it isn't fool proof nor necessarily safe to engage in long term heavy play when I use it. Ahhhh but that is why I keep the scissors handy!

I like lined leather cuffs and leather straps... preferably attached to a caning table at ankles, just above the knees, across the waist/small of the back, and wrists. Perfect positioning of bonds and height of caning table will leave her just able to touch the floor with her toes, but not really support any weight with them. That puts all her weight on her torso, on the table, unable to do much more than moan when the paddle, crop or cane starts coming down.

I prefer ropes in silk or for effect, hemp. Leather restraints and cuffs are good if you are not really sure about using ropes or the like. It isn't so much the knots as it is knowing how much tension is needed to not restrict circulation, unless that is your desire. Ropes are much more convienient to me , they just take alot more practice.

Personally, I prefer leather-like restraints as well, I'm always worried about tightness/chafing with rope and soft wrist skin! I don't actually use leather for various reasons, but there is some nice stuff at www.veganerotica.com And the good old-fashioned silk scarves/stockings work fairly well

I've never burnt skin yet with rope, I'm sure I eventually might, but if you do it right, using core-less MFP rope like you can get from the good folks at rainbowrope.com and banding many times as done in Japanese bondage (nice tutorials litter the web) you will not burn your bottom, unless you take the wrapping off too fast.

The knots should pretty much always tighten down onto other ropes, or inanimate objects, if you keep the knots from being something that can slip tight around the limb/torso/etc. you're going to probably be ok.

I just got into leather restraints recently after years of just being a huge motherfucker with really long arms and legs...

I'm all for 'em, in a lazy man's way. I don't give a fuck about the aesthetics of bondage, just let me immobilize someone fast and easy.

Metal leaves nice painful marks when you jerk against it suddenly trying to get away from the whip. And handcuffs always remind me of those hot institutional thugs, PoliceMen. Also, with rope and leather you can still think, well, if I could just wiggle over to that paring knife in the kitchen I might be able to saw my way out.

This gave me a flash on a whole genre of nonfiction I love...jailbreak stories. Escapes from the bastille or devil's island. People are always filing though the leg irons and then concealing the damage with a paste made of chewed bread and dirt. Or better yet, holding out their ankles so that the gigantic , friendly negro with the sledgehammer can strike off their irons with one shot although of course their escape is hampered by a shattered foot bone and the dogs and the deputies with shotguns are sure to claim them unless the electric eels and the caymans get them first.
