Favorite Stephen King Book?

The best is the unabridged version of the Stand..creepy when you see the Jim Morrison image. Although the way the movie starts is cool, with "Don't Fear the Reaper"

I also like the Tommyknockers a lot

Stephen King is like Herman Melville, 2/3 written for fun and profit, the rest written to say something poignant.....the best writer of our time

For me, it's The Stand, The Green Mile--just cried my way thru the movie for the third time recently, Tha Gunslinger series, and Carrie--I'll never forget reading that when I was 13--scared the living daylights outta me!!
Actually, I've read all his stuff--I'm a King junkie.....I guess there are worse addictions tho.....;)

The Dark Tower

Waiting anxiously for the next installment!

I've always liked his short stories, as well.

I agree with RM

When I first heard "Don't Fear The Reaper" on "The Stand" I HAD to find that song. I also liked the "Dark Tower" series. I recently just got done with "The Gunslinger" again. My favorite of his short stories was "Strawberry Spring" from "Night Shift."

All time faves: The Stand (Unabridged; the original left too much out), 'Salem's Lot (Scared the shit out of me), and Cujo (Ditto)

I almost forgot about The Talisman. Yes, that was pretty good too. And Peter Straub, who co-wrote it, is a terrific writer as well. I'm curious about Black House, the sequel that's coming out in September. It'll be interesting to see how they pick up the story.

It......clowns freak me out ever scince!
the stand .....watch out for those summer colds!
thew shining was good , but for some reason i prefer the movie . i'm a huge Kubrick fan , and Nicholson is flawless as Jack Torrance

When I saw your quote, I thought for sure you're favorite must be Gerald's Game. I can't listen to that song without getting creeped out now.

Spacekowboy

I prefer the movie to the book, as well. ESPECIALLY the ending. I mean, the hotel blows up and the hedge animals chase after Danny, Mrs. Torrance, and Hollaran. I MUCH perfer the chase in the maze with Jack and Danny. I mean, at any moment Danny coulda made a wrong turn and run into Jack. CREEPY!!!!!
