As for classless or impolite comments and their place here, don't we read this board for honest opinions and advice? If a person wishes to exhibit a certain point-of-view, I would hope that they present it in their own words, and not in some generic, sugar-coated (re: diplomatic) prose.

VelvetDarkness could have requested, in syrupy terms, that the threadowner kindly present this topic in a more appropriate forum, but 'twouldn't have been nearly as amusing.

At least we're getting proper discussion out of a ridiculous topic.

I admit that I wasn't in the best of moods when I posted. It upsets me however, to see HT increasingly cluttered with mindless crap like this thread. It shouldn't take more than 5 mins of perusing legitimate HT query threads here for the OP to deduce that this isn't the place for a 'fave position' thread. As usual, the OP clearly didn't bother with that.

Whenever I notice there's a serious lack of quality topics on HT, I try to ask myself when I last started a thread with any discussion value. And until recently, my self-response was 'I don't recall' more often than not.

IOW, I don't think those of us who don't make a real effort to create interesting threads have much room to bitch about the overabundance of crap on our boards. If you don't like how it's going, do something proactive to enact change or go on hiatus; complaining and insulting other members don't seem to be getting the job done, VD.

Plus, isn't it possible that quality lurkers and n00bs see posts like yours and are discouraged from contributing? I know that's been a sentiment that newbies and lurkers have expressed in the past.

I don't disagree with your main points; I'm just hoping you'll refocus your energies on being part of the solution, as you have been in the past.

If the board can self organise itself to do 'spotlight on...' threads then surely it could organise itself to do 'spotlight questions' or something like that.

I kinda hope that the those members of the board who do view themselves as more developed than the 'I-wanna-shag-my-neighbour' brigade are still reflecting on their own sexual development. If they are still developing then there must be questions arising from their neck of the woods that could illuminte the rest of us.

And at this point there comes the feeling that I better put my money where my mouth is and start a thread.

I agree with what your saying here but my lifestyle is very alternative. I post threads reflecting on my own sexual development on the BDSM Forums. Perhaps I could change that. I've never considered before how that might affect the way I come across to people who have not seen the BDSM Forum side to me.
