Favorite School Lunch

We had Subway subs at my high school, so that was my favorite. There was also a great breakfast and salad bar.

Rectangular, greasy, pizza with the orange looking cheese. GAWD A'MIGHTY that was the only thing I ever missed about school. Also, fish on Friday's so the Catholics could eat.

my school only had vending machines... burritos and hamburgers that were already hot, cold sandwiches... some of it wasn't bad but my favorite lunch has always been cock.

Was your cafeteria cock served with tater tots, or did you just get a pack of peni from the vending machine?

I went to a small school more years ago than I care to talk about. My friend Kenny's mom ran the cafeteria, and spaghetti, hot dog, and pizza days were our favorites. Pizza day was always on a Friday after hamburger day on Thursday. Pizzas were a half hamburger bun with sauce and cheese. You got 4 of them for lunch, but the ladies kept making extras until they ran out. Lunch was $.25 then.

The lunch ladies were loved by everyone, and many moms went nuts trying to duplicate their spaghetti with meat sauce. I guess I lived in a different place/era.

I've had some amazing pizza as an adult, but I would love to get my hands on that rectangular school lunch pizza.

I loved fish sticks and tater tots, but I don't like either of them any longer.

It changed over the years. But back then that was the best stuff ever.

Maybe it never changed but our palates did. I find that to be true about a lot of childhood favorites. Objectively speaking they are not as tasty as I remember. The nostalgia makes some of those things welcome to my taste buds.
