Favorite Anti-Worm Software?

google Trend House Call. They'll do an offsite PC scan and usually pick up and wipe out most of those buggers. I run it about once every three months, just to be sure.

On DSL it takes a couple of hours for a deep scan. Be prepared for an all day xp on dial up.

I was about to make the same suggestion.

SpyCatcher ( I don't have the link at the moment, but you should be able to find it on download.com pretty easy ) is something I downloaded recently that picks up on things Spybot S.A.D., Windows Defender, and Spyware Blaster all miss.

Free download, so those on dial-up ( like me ) who don't want their internet connection all but tied up for 30+ hours might consider that if they have anything persistant.

I use Hitman Pro 2. It downloads a bunch of free programs and then runs them one after another until every bit of malicious software is removed from your PC. Sometimes it takes a couple of reboots between scans, but I haven't been let down by it yet.

Just make sure you turn off all background anti-spyware programs before starting Hitman Pro 2. They can get in the way, even if they are one of the programs it runs.

What is your favorite anti-worm software
An Apple Computer running Apple software :D Not, alas, free, but it does work. No downloads of any anti-worm or anti-virus software required.

As I always caution...

Fewer malware attacks... For now.

As a browser or OS gains popularity, so to does it gain attention of hackers and other jerks. Rest assured that they will find holes in the code. There's no such thing as perfect code. The only reason Apple and FF don't get as many viruses, worms, etc. is because the hackers don't feel like wasting their time on such a small percentage of potential targets compared to IE/Windows users.

If Firefox succeeds in "taking back the web" it will successfully targeted just as often as IE, I gurantee it. The first few Firefox specific viruses have already hit the airwaves, in fact, due to the surge in popularity. If you let Firefox or Apple OS lull you into a false sense of security, you might just be in for a rude awakening some day, probably soon.

Unfortunately true.

Wilders Security Forum is a good place for help, advice, and freeware.

Ewido too.

Google for links.
