favorit line from hamlet

Wow, this is almost scarey cause I just posted this on a movie quote thread like five mins ago!

***
But the strange one that I really like is from Hamlet, when he decides to take revenge on his Uncle and Mother...

"...from this day forth
my thoughts be bloody
or nothing worth."

I think those inside my head whenever some jerk pisses me off. A course I never say them out loud and for sure never do anything bloody!
***

There are lots of others too, but I never can get them exactly right.

HAMLET
SHAKESSPEARE

That's my favorite, too!

And, Sung Hi...
Funny meeting YOU here! ;)

Be careful...

interesting

I haven't read Hamlet since college, but I always liked this line from Act III by Polonius to Ophelia:

Tis too much proved--that with devotion's visage
And pious action we do sugar o'er
The devil himself.

Hamlet.

"Get thee to a nunnery"
Just because, one interpretation of that is that nunnery was actually a house of ill repute. It was ironic because he said it while she was reading the bible.

:)

OMG. I love the line "Get thee to a nunnery" too.

My second favourite line is

In heaven; send thither to see: if your messenger
find him not there, seek him i' the other place
yourself. But indeed, if you find him not within
this month, you shall nose him as you go up the
stairs into the lobby.

This is Hamlet's response to Claudius' queries as to what Hamlet has done with the body of Polonius.

OMG! crazy, I almost forgot bout that...

that has to be my favorite line...cause it made me giggle...maybe I am morbid...

ROMEO & JULIET (as performed in prison)

Romeo
Romeo
Where the fuck are you, Romeo.
And you had better have my mother fucking money when I see you.

You are too funny!

Ugh...

THE END was my favorite line...

For some reason I just didn't like Hamlet. I liked King Lear, I liked Romeo and Juliet, I like Merchant of Venice, but Hamlet just seemed stupid. *shrug* .

Hamlet never *did* anything...

He only solved his father's murder, and got revenge or it. He also went crazy, talked to spirits from beyond, put on an ironic play, and had a huge sword fight.
... oh and he talked to a skull about the meaning of life.

I completely agree with you....my faves were macbeth and romeo and juliet and king lear

damn

but I ended up rereading all five acts of Hamlet last night because of this silly thread.

I did however find a new favorite line from Hamlet.

Act V... by the Second Clown..... "Go to."

:)

I can't believe no one mentioned the obvious.

To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them?

Maybe I like it so much because I'm never sure what to do. *shrug*

But....

If I remember correctly (it's been awhile), Hamlet talks to his father's ghost and figures out that the King killed his father all at the beginning of the play. He then does very little for the rest of the play except go crazy, talk alot, and put on a play. He only kills the King at the end. I didn't feel as if the play Hamlet had any sort of coherent plot structure.

I loved King Lear. It has so many memorable characters doing so many memorable things. The plot moves along swiftly. And the Fool is a work of art.

Swoon. I'd heard about this fabulous new Texan on the Boards. Welcome. Seems this place is simply overflowing with lusciously intelligent Texans these days. :D

I should add that my favorite Shakespeare quote is from MacBeth, not Hamlet:

Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

It's so terribly well known, but the simplicity and imagery of the language has always captivated me.

Mishka, it's a pleasure to meet you. However, your message has me seriously worried. That my reputation precedes me is freightening.

These boards are a lot of fun. I didn't know a place existed where a person can be a sexual perv on one thread, and be taken seriously on another thread. Hell, you can be both on the same thread and it's normal here. I like this place.

Thanks again for the welcome.

TO BE OR NOT TO BE...........

On a damn erotica website talking about Shakespear plays.

OK. I have an almost Literoticaesque Hamlet story. I once took students to see Hamlet performed live. My class was mostly composed of football boys. They had never been in a theatre before. Most fell alseep until the second half where the extremely well endowed Ophelia went mad and ran around the stage starkers. Some stood on the seats and cheered. One boy yelled out, "About time this bloody play got better." That theatre never sent me fliers for future productions again. Funny that!
