Sarah McCain Palin

He didn't tell his wife when he put the name on the birth certificate. She thought he put down "Ava Grace," which is what they'd agreed on.

She apparently still doesn't quite believe him...

You've got to go for the really lasting and important values when you're naming a child.

I can't blame the guy. I mean, names like Moon Unit and Dweezil are just so passé anymore.

"It may take more convincing" he says. He may find himself trying to convince her not to divorce him...

Yeah but c'mon, Ava Grace is a lovely name. If someone did this to me, I'd be furious both for the audacity and for what the poor kid is gonna go through.

At least the first name is "normal." Sarah is pretty. I suppose it could have been worse...

I think if my husband tried something like this he would found himself ripped to shreds. If they had decided upon a name together and then he went against that in any way (even if it hadn;t been a political thing) then I would feel so betrayed and furious he would be in deep deep doggy doo doo - add that to all the post-birth hormones and you have one dead husband on your hands I think.

And I think any jury would acquit you... seriously.

My older sister wasn't named for weeks because Dad wanted to name her Maxine. The problem wasn't the name per se, but that he wanted to name her after an ex-girlfriend. Not cool! Mom won that one.

Mark Ciptak

R.I.P.

Asshole Got what
He Deserved!
Signed - Mrs. and Sarah Ciptak

Ciptak, a blood bank employee for the American Red Cross, said he named his third child after John McCain and Sarah Palin to "to get the word out" about the campaign.

"I took one for the cause," he said. "I can't give a lot of financial support for the (McCain/Palin) campaign. I do have a sign up in my yard, but I can do very little."

okay does he think that no one bloody knows about the campaign???

And second I don't care if you are dem or rep you just don't name your kids after politicians unless you want them to kill you in your sleep many years down the line.

And 'he took one for the cause' yeah if i was his wife he'd be taking it up the ass and having it surgically removed to go behind my back like that after having an agreed name!

If he really wanted to honor Palin, he'd have used the Sarah Palin Baby Name Generator.

I entered "Ava Grace" just now (his wife's choice for their baby) and it suggested this alernative: "Bowl Antler."

Entering "Sarah" produced: "Mullet Troll"

These are at least apolitical, in case little Mullet grows up to be an anarchist.

Just heard a phone interview with this guy... he wanted to name her JOHN McCain (they knew it was a girl). Mom shot that down. Then he suggested the Sarah idea... mom said no. So he filled out TWO sets of birth certificate forms... with the "Ava Grace" one on top... and showed those to her... before he put the "Sarah" one in the envelope.

It's time to tell him he's not the father.

Those signs weren't doing it, but now I'm convinced. Must ... vote ... Palin.

This happens more often than you think. I know of at least two instances, but my favourite? My friends mother remarried and had a baby. The parents had agreed on the name Teresa, but since the mother's name was also Teresa (and they were Spanish) he nicknamed the baby Teresita (literally, little Teresa). Going to register the name, he didn't really think and ended up registering ... Teresita! My friend, her sister, mother and whole damn family were FURIOUS!

I mean in English, Teresita sounds lovely, but in Spanish? The kid might as well be named Little Annie or Little John. :)

Um. That was a really stupid thing to do, buddy.

I hope that mother can get her daughter's name changed, and a husband with some common sense. This definitely takes it for the most stupid thing someone did in a news bit posted on a forum. ><

I think I'd divorce his ass. That kind of shit makes me sick to my stomach.
