I think this would solve the Problem

Child in Present wonders about single parent, and missing parent.

Builds Time Machine, goes back in time, back to the moment of their meeting.

Romance ensues, as the child gets to know the real person that their parent is, as a peer, not a parent.

Culminates in conception of the child...by the incestous couple.

Child goes forward in time, creating the missing parent.

Ending: Revealing that the parent suspected all these last years, by the uncanny resemblance to the missing parent.
