I saw this tonight as I looked through my local purveyor of fine wines and I had to get it, it was inexpensive and well...OK I cheesed out and went for the funny name....but it is nice, subtle peppery flavors and a pleasent vanilla oak touch to it. All and all for 10 bucks. I think it is a good buy and the name gave me a chuckle!

Better than "Shut Up, Fuckin' Bitch" Fine Distilled Malt Beverage.

And I'm just at a loss of words. Should I laugh at the name, wonder why anyone would give the wine a such name, or feel distressed at the downward spiral of the wine industry

The bottle says the name is referring to a British slang term that describes a particulary full bodied wine....

Hrmm I think they did it so marketing influenced sheep like me would buy it. But I am enjoying it...glass number two is going down smoothly.

It's true

The name is borrowed from a saying (in Great Britain) meant to convey that the wine/port being enjoyed is rich and full, and worthy of consumption.

~LOL~ @LL.

You have to picture an accent from the British Isles, proclaiming enthusiastically, "Now that's one fat bastard!" to get the real sense of how it's used.

Fat Bastard?

Oops, for a second there, I thought you were talking about my boss!
