I have the same tendency - with those I know well beforehand I automatically adapt to their predilections. My personal preference would be hard, fast and wild though, unless some feeling is involved.

Slow, so I can savor it. I love the sensation of being inside a woman. Not just the sexual aspect, but feeling like I'm part of her. Establishing a rhythm and moving together until I feel her approaching a climax. Fast is great in the middle or the end, but I love starting slowly and building. In the end, Alexis is right, it should be a combination of the two (unless you're doing something special and it's one or the other).
